So you think we should select the inferior player because of a feeling you have. Honestly how many raiders games have you watched over the last few years. Ferguson's problems have always been he is led easily and he is a bit dumb. He never sherks it for the raiders.

edit

who would Queensland rather see playing Merritt or Ferguson ?

Ferguson is basically an inconsistent version of Greg Inglis. That's not just coming from a Raiders supporter, many in the media have all said this. He's been turning the inconsistent part around of late and I'm sure he'll keep that up this week.

He has size, speed, strength, is good in the area and a top notch defender.

QLD hope Merritt gets picked.

I've seen a fair bit of the Raiders as I live there.
I wouldn't be disappointed to see Ferguson get a start to see whether he can handle the pressure, because if he can he could become an even greater player with confidence to handle the big stage.I really don't think QLD care which one of them plays.Mind you, watching Hodges trying to get under Ferguson's skin would be entertaining.
Over and out it's dinner time.

My team Update

Fergo is starting to show his talent..........and without bad apples to lead him astray, becoming a gun. he has to be in.

Problem is, he plays right centre and J Moz hasn't done anything wrong to lose his spot here, even though he plays left centre at Canterbury. He's still the best centre in NSW. Shifting him to the left means punting Jennings who I think should be there as well.

There were years when good NSW centres like ET, Mick O'Connor, McGaw shifted to the wing and were just as effective there for NSW. I reckon that's probably the place for Ferguson at the moment. I originally had Uate on the right wing, but he still has deficiencies in his game that are being exposed weekly at club level. Cronk, Thurston, et al will absolutely crucify him.

That leaves left wing. B Moz was a walk up but he's injured. The media (read DT)are on the Merrit bandwagon, but they're just getting on him for a story. They'll run & hide when he puts in a shocker in Origin. If Uate is a bit leaky in defence, then Merritt is a burst main pipe.

Leaves Tafua & Gordon. The former is a little powerhouse and plays on the left wing weekly. Little adjustment and familiarity to be made for him. The latter is skilful and can kick goals. Tough choice.

FB - Hayne
RW - Ferguson
RC - J Morris
LC - Jennings
LW - Tafua/Gordon
FE - Carney
HB - Pearce
AH - Farah
PF - Tamou
PF - Grant
MF - Gallen
RF - Lewis
LF - Bird
IP - Fifita
IP - Woods
IF - Watmough
IF - Hinchcliffe/T Sims

A pretty good side.Maloney in for me, I worry about Ferguson and 1 too many forwards on the bench.
I would like to give Ryan James a go.

From someone who dislikes the raiders (mainly because of their supporters) I have to agree. He is the closest thing to Inglis style of player in the NRL, he is physically superior to Merritt in every aspect including speed and agility. A few weeks ago I wouldn't have picked Ferguson because of his inconstancy but after watching some his performances I think his taken his game to the next level and he should be a definite starter.

Ferguson is not quicker or more agile than Merritt IMO.

Cheers.

But there's never too many forwards on the bench. Props should only play 50 mins max so there should be two on the bench. the other two are to rotate the smaller forwards.

I'm not much of a fan of the utility player. The only consistently effective utilities I can recall in Origin were Craig Wing & Cronk. Generally, it's a wasted interchange IMO.

Loz needs to use the interchange much better than Stuart did. Stuart would really only use 15 of his 17 players where Meninga would use all players at his disposal.

Probably because he is the leading try scorer in the comp, this year and overall

Ashley Graham was top tryscorer too last year, you didn't see people calling for him to be picked for QLD even when a wing spot was open because all he does is fall over the line - just like Merritt.

Ferguson will be a disaster under the high ball of Cronk and Thurston. Isn't even a realistic option.

Merritt will be a disaster coming out of his own end, returning kicks, marking up on stampeding GI or generally doing anything that requires him attempting to bust a defensive line
