The period in the lead up to half time and jsut after are often when a game can be decided though.

Those are the times you don't want merkin Gubley on the field

Why not, his pace out of dummy half could really exploit a tiring QLD forward pack.

There's a big agenda against Gidley on here no doubt, but he's definitely the best suited to that final position, people need to put their bias aside for a moment.

I disagree. Wing had that ability. He had really really good first few steps power and quickness. I don't think Gidley has that.

Happy to be proven wrong though

I think a strong case can be made for John Sutton in the utility role, especially if Gidley is a consideration. Sutton is bigger and more skillful than Gidley and is very effective close to the line. Gidley is useless.

No one likes its but we'd best get used to the the fact Gidley will be the utility.

1. We don't need a utility
2. If we HAD to chose one then I'd go with Reynolds. Gidley is slowing down big time, has sluggish service from hooker as well. Reynolds is like a younger, more talented and as enthusiastic about league. Reynolds would be the only option for utility in my books otherwise don't get anyone at all.

Just to clarify, Josh or Adam?

I think Josh would be a more suitable utility.

Peter Tunks said he is hearing mail that Josh Morris will miss out on origin selection this year. Looks as though a few may well be granted their wish.

This.

Despite the constant chorus of how bad Gidley has been in Origin, the fact is Gidley has at worst been a pass mark for his stints in dummy half, and at times looked quite dangerous. There is no doubt for me that during the Ennis era he provided a very noticeable spark the times when he came on.

Farah of course is no Ennis, but if keeping Farah fresh by giving him a 15-20 minute spell is the plan, it wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.

I'm not much of a Josh Reynolds fan but he should be way ahead of Gidley if Daley is going to go that way with his bench.

Backline should be

1. Hayne
2. Gordon
3. Ferguson
4. Jennings
5. Merritt

Hopefully a bit of magic from fullback

Strike power from the centers

Safe hands and try scoring ability on the wings. Both players are fantastic backing up through the middle and on the edges. Plus Gordon can kick goals.

I meant Josh Reynolds, cheers for clearing that up.

Gidley hasn't been terrible for the blues in the past while at hooker (off the bench), but during those stages he was also displaying good form for newcastle.

Now after an injury plagued 2012, and a slow and average start too 2013, I just think he should be left out of the rep arena now.

If that is the case that is discraceful. Josh was one of best players for NSW last year. He contained Inglis relatively well. QLD would not do that to their side.

No wonder NSW have not won a series for 7 years.

That sorts that out
I think he'll be really good on the wing, but i think matching him up with Greg Inglis at centre is the best move. He not only has the ability to hold his own against Inglis in defense but Fergo has that blend of size, speed and strength to ask some genuine questions of his own in attack. It'd be a great battle.

Inglis is probably the best player in the world right now, so whoever lines up on him is going to have a tough night. I'll back Fergo to be up for the challenge, but do conceded like anyone who is lining up against him at the moment, Inglis could put on a show at his expense

J. Morris has been quiet this year but I honestly thought he was still a 'lock' for game one. I have no doubt he'd lift on the big stage...he may not get the chance!

The reality is (and everyone except souffs fans realise it) that Nathan Merritt isn't good enough to play SOO. He should just get used to sitting on the end of that souffs backline, making 5 hit-ups a game and flopping over the try-line occasionally from 5-10m out

That would be very harsh on Josh Morris if he does not keep his gig. If Morris misses out and Merritt is picked some losing of shit will occur.

Josh Morris hasn't scored a try all year. Boy that sure sounds like some form worth an Origin gig

Josh Morris has also played outside a depleted forward pack, with halves with zero creativity. Josh Morris has also proven last year he is good enough to play effectively at this level. But please, keep bigging up your Souffs nuffies.

I would be surprised if you have made a post in this forum in the last few weeks that doesn't include any of the words Sutton, Merritt, Reynolds or Souffs nuffies are future immortals.

Try to put your club loyalties aside for once, as we are trying to pick a NSW team here in case you thought you were in the Souffs forum.

Merritt scored 22 tries outside a wooden spoon team bro. Don't even try and pull that argument

Yeah, you're picking a team based on failed assumptions that have gone into picking failed teams for the past five years. I'm sorry you can't see the error of your ways ;-)
