you should watch the ncaa comp then. oregon, i think it was, did that exact same play a few weeks back.i watched a bit today .... i liked the patriot's play where they threw it wide to a guy behind the line who then made the pass to a reciever going down town
things like that are seen as risky ... but I reckon they should be done more - would liven NFL up - I think it's a bit too safe
yep. i'm pretty sure jerry rice (i think it was him) had a td pass off a reverse sweep play about 20 years ago. was pretty to watch.Trick plays happen more then you realise, but got everytime that play like today comes off, there maybe 5 or 6 times it results in a interception.
Some of the tricks I have seen over the years are just amazing
Possession is critical in nfl, loosing the ball is huge, so they don't do this stuff often.
i've made comment about this a few times. coaches here get too influenced by american football tactics too much (running back carting the ball up) and make league one dimensional because they try to transfer them here. the tactic used for gridiron is more relevant there seeing as you have four plays to go 10 yards (while having several option plays running at the same time to stifle the defence). in league, carting the ball up one out with nothing else happening is stupid most of the time. people talk about how there's a lack of talent in nrl and there's too many teams. i disagree. my view is that there's a lack of quality coaching available to the varying talent.thats the direction NRL is heading in, which is unfortunately starting to make it a bit boring and too safe

you're right. i've never heard of an nrl coach going over to the usa on a fact finding mission while visiting nfl franchises and delving into their coaching. it certainly hasn't been over the last 10-15 years where coaches have publicly made coments along the lines of "to win games you need to hold the ball and to hold the ball you need to play boring one out football". and i don't recall brian smith saying things like that years ago after a trip to the usa.I don't think coaches here are influenced by NFL in the slightest. What a bizarre thing to say. Hitting the ball up for a few tackles has been in existence in League since it's beginning.
It's gets the team moving forward as quick as possible, & gives the rest of a team rest, or for the playmakers to set their plays.
Peyton should retire-I said it about 6 weeks ago he has lost his touch-his power in the arm and most of all his confidence. He knows he cant make the big throws anymore.
Today was awfull. Good career Peyton but now its time too hang up the boots.
I think he played injured from around the time the started to run the ball.
Cowboys get f**ked over, & ya laugh, & laugh, & laugh.
By the way, that Pats/Ravens game was fantastic. Both teams really turned up to play. I was happy to see NE take it out.
The Seattle/Carolina game was a completely different game. Was still good but. The earlier game was all offence, but this one was just so defensively minded. Good contrast. Sucks that Seattle won though.
