If the socceroos attempted to play high tempo footy. Well firstly they aren't capable of it against the top sides. They get their arses wiped mate.
They defend and play for a corner or set play. It's our best chance against the good sides and smart

Problem is that we just don't have the midfield talent to play that game.

Aaron Mooy was a good player to fit in that style, as was Marco Bresciano - but they're both retired.

What we do have are pacey wingers, which makes sense that we would use counter-attacking football as a weapon.


But our ball skills are sub-par, at best.

World cups been great but in two weeks time who is even keeping up to date with women's soccer?
I don't even hear a word about the A league anymore. It seems like media just doesn't report on it anymore.
Bit of a shame but we just aren't big enough a country for to many codes to be successful

You can have a day off whenever you want ffs. I remember when I was self employed I took the day off to watch Australia beat England 3-1 and then swill piss all day. That was also Wayne Rooney's debut, though I didn't give a f**k at the time.

I'm pretty sure I didn't even tell anyone I wasn't coming in. They would've known by about eight o'clock.

I might’ve rocked up the next day like nothing happened. Or maybe went and got work somewhere else. This was Sydney in 2003. There was so much building work that you didn’t need to be reliable or even competent. There was a three month period around Christmas where I don’t think I worked a single Monday. Fridays were a bit of a write off too.

I worked with merkins in their thirties and forties who lived like that, and I suspected I’d end up the same way if I didn’t do something drastic. So I joined the army. That’s my superhero origin story. From deadshit to piece of shit in 13 weeks. Now I have a masters degree and file HR complaints when merkins disagree with me at work.
