What did they vote for that would make them poorer?
The “remain” arguments for brexit surround predictions of a shrinking ecomomy. Previously the UK off load 70% of their exports to their fellow EU countries. Whilst free trade agreements may restore this, a UK independent of the EU creates uncertainty of trade. Like here, there is an argument that an open border policy with the EU (like we have with NZ) gave the UK huge momentum in their economy. An instant halt to this could lead to a skilled labour shortage. All of this points to a shrinking economy.

it looks like the UK will leave the EU under a “no deal” brexit or at least a very superficial nothing agreement. It’s a very complicated process and whilst many have a simplistic “just do it” attitude, it’s very much a case of being careful what you wish for as the UK could very well wake up to find that their previous business partners have found better deals elsewhere, and a skills shortage which will take years to turnaround etc.

So a shrinking economy usually hits the poor first. A drop in receipts means that the Government has less cash to spend on essential services and welfare - all of which effect the poor more than the better off. A shrinking economy will hit blue collar workers before white collar workers.

The pro brexit supporters seem to be seeking the return of autonomy. The clawing back of their sovereignty to enable the UK to be able to make their own decisions about their own borders and trade. Yes, sounds good but don’t do this based on an ideological premise without nutting out agreements that allow trade to continue to flow.

Nobody knows. Nobody has any f**king clue which policies make poor people richer or poorer. There are so many moving parts everybody gets to claim whatever they want without being held to account for the impacts. Even if it can be shown that poor people (or anyone else) have suffered/benefited during the reign of a given political party, we'll never know how they would've fared if somebody else was in power during the same period. The poor might've been even better or worse off under a different government.

Plus the factors that make the poor poorer could be largely out of the hands of national governments. In that case the poor can at least be satisfied that they kept the party they hate more out of power.

Massive generalisation. Historians fill in the blanks in between the facts too. Running with your premise, they are tainted with bias or colour to sell books.

But we digress. These two particular books by Wolff are based on audio tapes from merkins within the White House. So without any rebuttable evidence, well assume it is the truth until such time it is shown to be otherwise. That how shit works. Not even the queen of spin Kellyanne Conway has had the balls to refute any part of the book, because she knows that this guy does not go to print without accounts from multiple sources .

Absolutely historians are tainted with colour and bias. 'History' is mostly fiction.
