Probably the bit where you said it takes 2 or more years for anything to turn around. But thats cool, pretend you didnt say that too.

What ive said here is nothing about the realities. Everyone should be aware things are going on in the world that no australian govt can stop. Labor never had a chance of stopping inflation. They also never had a chance of keeping electricity prices down (especially while pushing aggressive renewable targets). But it didnt stop them talking it up like they would deliver that in the near term.

Well to be fair I literally didn't say that. What I said was.....

.........which is when inflation started to really kick off, had we acted on it then instead of believing it was transitory ( as was the accepted belief ) it would not be as high as it now is.

But anyways, that aside, how long is the term of government? Three years. So two years would fall within a term yeah?

Like I said, poor take, and that's probably being generous.

This is true to a great extent, and I've said as much. All they can do is limit the effects as best as possible, and not make it worse. However in saying that the right approach can still improve the situation, future inflation was locked in, the level of future inflation wasn't and isn't.

Fair enough, i guess i misread what you meant.

Just like no australian govt controlled it going up, it will logically just fall too.
What has the current govt put in place so far to help the situation for all australians?

Inflation can still be local, so whilst it goes down globally it doesn't have to follow suit here, though obviously it normally would, I mean we'll do basically the same shit as every other merkin, so it should follow what it does elsewhere.

What do you think they can do? Run a budget that isn't inflationary is probably the most important thing, which they've done, beyond that, not add fuel to the fire. Which again I think they've done. Also helping to get wages moving without getting out of control and pushing rather than chasing inflation.

They've also begun a bit of reform at the RBA, less meetings, more data, a fresh approach with a new governor. Hopefully that will lead to better decision making, we'll see I guess.

Our federal reserve bank controls the money supply and is independent. The government of the day isn't in a great position to affect inflation in a substantial way as it has no direct influence on the supply of money.

This is a perfect example of why politics is such a dirty business and why many good people from the private sector won't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

A night at the pub didn't allegedly end well. It should have been resolved between the couple or maybe with police involvement.
