Should a pure model of democracy be concerned about the socioeconomic position of the constituents ? I would have thought that it's up to the constituents to vote in merkins who can make life better for them.

Do you seek a socialist democracy where wealth is shared more equitably ? Shhh you'll wake @TheRam from his sleep.

Merkins aren’t given a choice.

Vested interests conspire or are otherwise aligned to ensure the market will continue to thrive to serve the owners of production.

The difference between our major parties is somewhat marginal when it comes to wealth redistribution and creating better lives for the broad populace and proletariat classes.

Gough had a go and he was sorted out pretty quickly by your “functional democracy.”

And the problem with wokeyism is that it distracts people from the central issues and is NIMBY.

This is where I slither my way over to the right and agree with them about the prevalence of imposters on the broad left.

Swaying along to blue sky mine and clapping out of time.

Well there was only one side of politics that created the minimum wage, superannuation, workers rights, sick leave, annual leave, parental leave, award modernisation, introduced Fair Work Ombudsman etc so unsure why you think that the diff is marginal. One side that traditionally fights for these rights and another side who traditionally fights against them.

Often we have had to wait for a change of government before there is a rise in welfare payments (job seeker).

IIRC NDIS was introduced by that same side of politics too.

One side of politics was trying to trim the benefits of negative gearing on the housing market and most recently introduce a $10B housing fund. The other side whinged like a half sober good sort with a broken heel.

No prizes to align which with which.

Two wrongs don’t make a right comrade.

And despite your claims, the gap between the rich and poor has continued strongly under Labor.

Middle class continues to get nailed.

They are both parties beholden to the excesses and inhumanity of capitalism.

Saying one is a bit kinder doesn’t cut it for mine.

No, it was an actual 98 yr old Nazi from WW2
I'm talking about when they are talking about Putin "saving the Ukrainians from the nazis".

The gotcha from canada doesn't really change anything. Everyone is coping flak because one merkin made a mistake.

In the eyes of the RWNJs Trudeau can do no right because climate change, covid, lockdowns and he calls Trump a gimp.

I'm sure ALBO will find him a nice little cushy job somewhere mate.
I think you'll find he already has a job lined up.

He announced the decision in a snap media briefing at the Victorian Parliament on Tuesday afternoon. And while coy about his immediate plans for post-political life, he did offer some hints.

“Hopefully a portion of it will be continuing to serve our state and continuing to talk about reform and promote good ideas and good people,” he said.

“To be honest, I have spent a long time in the public sector. I won’t spend much more time in the public sector after five o’clock tomorrow – I have spent a long time and been privileged and honoured to be a public servant for 21 years,” Andrews said.

It's a little bit ironic how Russel Brand started really going after American politics, media and big Pharma companies and getting a real following then all of a sudden rape allegations come out from 10+yrs ago.
Not sure what to make of it tbh.

Rogan isn't as aggressive with his words.
