He was running a private company, so really they can GGF. Unless of course charges are laid by ASIC over the selling of cancelled tickets, but that will just be a fine. Whilst the operation and reputation nose-dived during his tenure, his job was to drag the carrier into profit and he did that. It was messy at the end and what resulted was cash in the bank but a long standing reputation in tatters. So tick but ultimately a fail.
A family friend was CEO of a big 4 bank until a few years ago. There was a enquiry (RC) and a messy departure. Ask anyone about him or the circumstances now and they would struggle to remember TBH. Did it happen whilst he was at the wheel ? Yes. Was it his fault ? Of course not. Should he take the blame ? Yes, that is what is expected. LIfe goes on.
Qantas will bounce back, give a lot of airfares away, fly on time and all will be forgiven methinks. Lots of nice TV ads.
They will bounce back but gee its going to take a long time to remove the stench of this. A lot of people are pissed off how they have been treated and the time wasted trying to get credit back.
I have to go to the UK for a wedding next september.
Sydney To London - Singapore Airlines is $500 cheaper then Qantas one way.
Both have just one stop over as well. And both have about 27-28 hours in transit.
Why would i go with Qantas when Singapore is cheaper its a great airline they have an outstanding airport to relax at for a 4-5 hour layover. And in reality are just as safe as Qantas.
I just got back from a world tour last August and had 10 flights across the world i didn't fly Qantas once. Because they charge more then these other carriers.
I used them when i went to Adelaide for origin.
But in terms of overseas unless they drag there prices down below with these other airlines i wont deal with them.
