ISIS arose because national borders don’t match the demographic distribution of Sunni Muslims in the Levant. The quote was “you can’t bomb yourself to peace”.
The rebuttal was, it worked in Japan.
Well, in Iraq for example, they bombed the f**k out of that country to overthrow the leader. While that regime fell, the ensuing power vacuum led to insurgency, civil war, and the rise of ISIS.
Well they just wanted regime change, and they didn’t need nuclear weapons to get it. You’ll notice Iraq hasn’t invaded any of its neighbours since Saddam Hussein was overthrown.Nuclear weapons ? If they used nuclear weapons on Iraq, because they had WMDs, (oops), would that have changed anything?
They are used to bring peace to the wielder, not the victim. Iraq was a problem neighbour and now they’re not. Is Kuwait having problems with terrorists these days? They sure as shit aren’t having problems with Iraq any more.Well it was really about oil and the west were pissed that Saddam nationalised oil production - he blocked foreign investors like Exxon, Shell etc from being able to drill for it themselves. From the US POV, they didn’t want Iraq to have their hand on the tap.
What a cluster f**k and our guy still lies to this very time about it.
No, nuclear weapons would not have prevented ISIS, and imagine using that shit on a false premise that THEY had WMDs. Eek how embarrassment.
Just on a tangent, I think the world are very lucky that the only times that nukes have been used in anger is against the Japanese. Their population holds no grudges. I don’t think the arab nations would be so forgiving.
So you tell me, under what circumstances ARE nuclear weapons appropriate ? When in history should they have been used to bring peace ?

Allegations only but the cops hold a big press conference, like they’d caught Bin Laden.
Why are the cameras everywhere out the front of his place when he’s arrested?
Freak accident?
Some kind of carnival circus show, without any finding by any court.
This state is a joke.
I will take slight issue with that...I agree that the arrests require significant investigation and confidence in prosecution. However, from experience that investigation can also be hampered by pre-conceived biases or be viewed the lens of other persuasive evidence. To reinforce that these arrests are not undertaken without significant investigation and confidence in prosecution
Mind you, I also have my own opinions and note that the confluence of events is certainly not favourable to Alan Jones and, if guilty, these are truly heinous offences deserving of full punishment.I think you have joined the dots a bit to suit your justice activism personality. Which is noble, and certainly not a put down in anyway, as I join you in spirit.
The strikeforce obtained both an arrest and search warrants and raided Jones’s flat. They were there for hours. That meant that there were cop cars skewed out front in Macquarie street with cops coming and going. It would not take long for residents to leak who they are visiting. Meanwhile Jones has called Chris Murphy with a WTF phone call. I mean which celebrity or NRL player doesn’t have CM’s number in their phone?
This is a high profile arrest, so a presser happens to stop stupid rumours. To reinforce that these arrests are not undertaken without significant investigation and confidence in prosecution.
BTW, it should be noted that of the 8/9 victims in these tranche of charges, one was a minor who was 17 at the time of the offence.

As for confidence, it can often be misplaced...I have seen (and also acted in) some high profile matters where the prosecution was adamant and bullish - and the conviction wasn't achieved and justifiably so.
So the investigation and confidence of prosecution is not a confirmation of guilt by any measure
They do press conferences for high profile things.I thought it was improper for NSW Police to hold a press conference.
It’s not their job.
If their are rumours abounding in the public sphere, so be it.
They do press conferences for high profile things.
As for the press seemingly tipped off about the arrest???? ..... were they there when the police rocked up? .... i assume it was mostly dudes in suits who turned up and not entirely obvious what was going on immediately.
