I have on occasion been a visitor to their forum throught the years and have made it a weekly one because of ricky coaching us and ando them.
A couple of interesting points come up...
Alot of people in the media and on the forum talk about the mess inherited by ando..and that sticks intense coaching style wore the players. Interestingly enought it is this intensity that is bringing results here at the sharks as it was what has been missing form the club.So what the fugg happened at the chooks for them to let ricky go and be so happy about it...there is constant talk if bench usage esp in the two lost gfs but so far at the sharks i think that the interchange has been one of the most pleasing aspects of the new club...
there are also a lot of posters on there who believe that ando can turn it around...TRUELY...did they watch any sharks games from his period especially 03 and 04..they only have ando because benny pulled the plug..anyway i digress from the impact on our club..
Whatever the reasons rickys signing for the club is the best result for the sharks since...fugg maybe for ever and for the poor old chooks...ANDO..
but what do we think is this overplaying of mind games and relentless work ethic of rickys...and even humiliating some players..
its footy and as quigs would no doubt say its changed but one thing should remain
if its a spade call it one and its been too long since that has heppened here at shark land..
bring on the future .
imo it must be poltis at the roosters causing the mess...and gusssss

and there must be a lot of supporters who only watch their team and who their playing

i feel a poll coming

Good post

First of all Gus has nothing to do with the Roosters club anymore.

Sticky brought us our success in 2002 and 2003 with the help of all our coaches, gus, Cartwright etc...

In 2004 and beyond Sticky wanted to be his own man and do everything his own way. This where we started to decline because he was to inexperienced to do it.

Sticky does have an intense coaching style but after a while it starts to take an effect on the players. The first few years it is good but after that the players start to get sick of it.

Sticky used to be so bad with the bench and picking players out of position. The difference is that he has learnt from his mistakes and I'm sure he will be a better coach for it.

Sticky is a great coach and I'm sure will bring the Shires alot of success but it was a time for change at the Roosters and Anderson has this season to show what he can do.

I'm only looking from the outfield and haven't done a skerrick of homework.

But I believe that this year being the Chooks 100th year and when things weren't going well last year then the powerboys went looking for a really big fish to coach them this year.

Just my opinion mind you - but I think that they were already weighing the big fish before it was landed and subsequently threw Sticky back into the briney to swim for himself as the big fish had been hooked weighed in, scaled and was ready to rock and roll.

But in reality the big fish had just sniffed the bait, turned up his snout, played games and wasnt going anywhere.

Then along came Ando.

just my opinion mind you

Footy is a tough game, and you have to be tough to play it. I dont like coaches sugar coating things and i dont think sticky does that. If you are playing crap, you need to be told so.

If sticks wore the players, why havent they improved after a full off season and 6 rounds of footy with a new coach?

The roosters are about the only club in the league I would wish ando on, them and maybe the eagles.

not that i would know for sure but dont you think that gus still has influence at the club..and by that i dont mean a coaching one..
and as for ricky being his own man when he came to the sharks he emphasised the importance of his TEAM of coaching staff and to my knowledge only 1 pay and 2 cartwright have gone..cartwright has gone to head coach at the titans and credits ricky and his intensity as major influences and pay is coaching somewhere up the coast ..reefy would no doubt know the exact whereabouts..yet we have cement on board no doubt as his replacement..so the his own man theory doesnt really wash i think that actually relates to him wanting less of the gus influence..i think that quigs might be closer..
as non rooster supporters we dont have the rose coloured galsses

Don't think Ando will be there next season. A rumour I heard (from someone well connected) was that he'll be at St George (with Noddy) and Freddy & Gus will be doing the Roosters. Sounded a long shot to me but this guy told me way before it was public knowledge that Ando was coming to the Sharks.

the mess ando inherited - at least his side had not slumped from 3rd to 3rd last, losing ten on the trot

Mr Dean Pay was a guest of Ricky's at the game on the weekend

success is not cheap - in a physical and mental aspect

ricky will do well for us

Pretty sure its the Beachhouse Hotel.

Thats owned by a bunch of old league heads.

Thjeres pretty much no league in Hervey Bay, i lived and schooled there for 7 years.

All rugby union which is strange for a small country town.

When Sticky took over at rorters every game was a grand final.
Every game.
Me and my old man often talk about it - they were the best team to tip on the card. They never let you down as Ricky had them going gangbusters for 80 minutes.
He Pay and Cartwright revolutised the defensive line - and with Robert Finch in their pocket cost us the 2002 semi-final, but that's another story.

unfortunately with this intensity week after week and all the rep footy in those years, blokes simply wore out.
Fitzgibbon, Minnie, wing Ricketson, Morley, cayless, Hodges etc. - many of them became very ineffective under Ricky and lost their Rep spots.

I agree with earlier posts he would have learnt from many mistakes.
But there is no tougher competitor in the league and he is hellbent on winning our first title.
