OT: Foxtel FoxSports / Kayo /Ch9 + NRL TV Rights

^^^ the above media scrum is an extension of Nine / News business plan to force punters behind their paywalls. So the lobbying of the NRL is in the same lane as the lobbying against (say) the ABC who provide free news content in competition with their paywalled businesses.

One thing I reckon is only fair however, it that if you subscribe to Kayo or Stan Sport, then that should open the door to their news paywalls.

People happily paid for a newspaper every day before the internet had decent news content .... a standard digital subscription is less than the price of a newspaper ... people just want the internet to be free

You pay for the ABC - its just not a subscription based payment.

Well, if Paramount+ get the rights to the PL,, why not?

Paramount+ have all Aussie content including the A-League, Matildas, Socceroos and FFA Cup.. Now, the FA Cup.
A lot of this stuff will also be on Channel 10, 10 Bold etc...
They are going hard for football coverage in Oz. They've even signed up Simon Hill, Andy Harper, and yesterday, Tara Rushton.
They will be the new Football broadcaster in this country I suspect. And they are cheap.
I'm subscribed due to a massive discount when I renewed my Wanderers membership this season. $70/12 month subscription.

Huh? .... ch9 aint perfect but i dont think they are especially negative - Is this just aimed at Gus? Joey a little at times too but i think its just his opinion .... if you want to see negative, go see news limited - they live off rumours, scandal and bad press.
