The $100mill Multi Sports complex is round. Hopefully they camp the Swans there and get them off the SCG pitch and we can do away with any drop in pitches and leave the SGC for the purpose that it was originally intended.

Sorry Twizz, it's for superstar acts like Taylor Swift. Not sure the Swans are huge enough.

On that map, they should swing the light rail into that curved (bus?) access road, closer to the SCG so people can access all three venues without crossing a major road.

But great result for Parra (and the Wanderers, sigh) if the report's recommendations are adopted and funded.

No need. They've just built a squillion dollar overhead walkway thingy.

Wow, two major league venues get the knockdown rebuild treatment.

So where are the Roosters, the Eels, Sydney FC and the WSW going to play there games while these new stadia are being built ?

According to the article, Allianz wont be knocked down till the new one is built in Moore Park.
Eels and WSW no doubt head to ANZ.

So why in Gods name are they doing the current upgrade to Parra - Dressing sheds, gym etc??

Seems like a complete and utter waste of money if they are going to bulldoze the thing anyway.

Good point. They'd better make this decision quickly because they are due to start the extension to the north and south terraces by July apparantly.
I'd expect a decision before then.

If they plan on spending $400 million on Pirtek and rebuild the joint, they'd better get it right.
There are so many fabulous stadiums overseas of 35000 capacity.
The only two decent rectangular stadiums built properly in this country have been Suncorp and the Melbourne Rectangular.
When I have some time, I'll dig up some pics of some of the better ones from overseas.
Even the flat pack variety going up all over England (something like Gold Coast Stadium) shits on most things we've put up in this country.

Never been to Suncorp and only been to Robina and Melbourne once but I like the easy access into both stadiums. That's the main thing that needs to change at Parra, it takes too long to get out of when there's a big crowd. Hopefully they keep us close to the action and keep similar viewing angles because where I currently sit in the Mick Cronin concourse I can see pretty much everything.

I like Robina, but I can hear our members complaining about the long walks up to their seats (The same ones I hear already every week). AAMI Park yes I would think something like that would be the best blue print, a Great venue for both Rugby and Soccer.

AAMI - Yes, without the stupidly expensive roof.
A stadium doesn't need to be an architectural statement. It needs to be practical. Money is wasted on the fancy stuff sometimes when it could be better spent on the facilities within that stadium.
