OT: Parra Stadium sharing

AAMI - Yes, without the stupidly expensive roof.
A stadium doesn't need to be an architectural statement. It needs to be practical. Money is wasted on the fancy stuff sometimes when it could be better spent on the facilities within that stadium.

That roof is a solar collector / solar powered right ?

It also makes the joint look like a clump of mushrooms from the air.

Still I could handle having solar panels on the roof of the stadium for day to day power needs.

Waste of f**king money to keep greenies happy then.

Never been to Suncorp and only been to Robina and Melbourne once but I like the easy access into both stadiums. That's the main thing that needs to change at Parra, it takes too long to get out of when there's a big crowd. Hopefully they keep us close to the action and keep similar viewing angles because where I currently sit in the Mick Cronin concourse I can see pretty much everything.

Suncorp is world class. Not a bad seat in the stadium.

Suncorp is in a class of its own in Australia, though hopefully the new Sydney stadium will offer NSW equivalent.

will be amazing if we get a completely new stadium, guess we'll know in a few weeks!

Any idea how long we'd be homeless for during demolition & then construction? 2 seasons? 3? I wonder what the timeline will be for the funding. Will it be a case of it being available immediately, meaning we could see works begin at the end of the current season (or would it be organised around the Wanderers season?) or would it be a case of the Allianz redevelopment being funded first, and then parra not being done until after that is finished?

1 season for the Eels.

We'd play the bulk of our home games through the first 2/3 of the season, then start the knock down. Build through the following year, where we would play at ANZ, then into the third year, where we'd start the season away and then have a slew of home games, in our brand new stadium, to finish off the year.

Wanderers lose two seasons, and they're just as likely to move to Penrith as they are ANZ.

That's pretty good actually but I think you'll find the demolition and construct may take a little longer than that. I'm guessing a good 30 months at least.
What they could do though is build the stadium in stages. Start at the southern end and complete that. Already we have increased capacity. Then do the northern end. Same again. They could then take out the western or eastern side and do the same. Into the first two builds, they design permanent corporate boxes, so the corporate sector is catered for as well during the build.
This way, current tennants can stay there during construction.

Otherwise, Wanderers to share games between Campbelltown, Penrith and ANZ. Eels to play at ANZ, and just for a bit of fun, take a game to Penrith or Leichhardt or Belmore.
It's only for a season or two and the end result will be worth the wait.

It's not 100% confirmed, but it's lookibg like we wil play 10 games at Pirtek next year, bringing one back from ANZ i assume. Also, the club is looking to re-sign to play out of Pirtek for another 10 years.

I had a town house in a complex that runs along the old sales yards reserve. Even put a gate into the fence so my small paved back yard opened up to be more than 2 footy fields in size. great for pissed games of cricket and touch.

If the gate was opened now it would be into the new training field.

They have two training fields and have either built or building a gym, medical facilities and offices etc.

yeah i drove past last home game .... it really just looks like a nice footy field with a new amenities block

are normal people allowed to walk around on the fields? and let their dogs crap on them?
