Nope. Didn't even keep Gronk happy.

Well merkins were saying that the Birdsnest was ugly yesterday. This one is round (doesn't really suit the site) and shows a lack of imagination.

Gimme a variation of Birdsnest any day. I heard someone say that our version would incorporate recycled iron bark timber from old wharves and wool stores. Tick

Personally I'd think that the design should be sympathetic to it's surroundings and take the location in Parra Park into account.

I was talking about the inside design. Not the outside.
I quite like the layout of the inside.

The current stadium is the envy of others because punters are close to the action. I'm in favour of any larrger stadium design provided that the majority of the fans remain close to the action.

So am I.
Being rectangular, you would hope that this feature is a given. It improves atmosphere immensely.
The Wanderers will want the same for sure.

Seriously, this is the sort of stadium our designers should be coming up with.
World class. Medium size. Great viewing from all seats. Good weather coverage.
Full roof for atmosphere retention. I can easily see great crowds for Parra and the Wanderers in something like that.

Dont' you think it looks like every other stadium though? I like the interior, but can't they make the exterior a little more unique, and easily identifiable as being Parramatta Stadium?

I don't know what, cause I'm not an architect, but something unlike the usual ones we see, i.e. not a mini version of ANZ stadium.

Yep, agreed that it looks a little average on the outside and they could do more to enhance its appearance. In saying that, special lighting effects can do wonders, and comes relatively cheaply as opposed to fancy exterior design.
As I've said previously, I'd rather the money be spent on the inside. It surely can't be that hard to make the outside look appealing with wasting $$$$ on it.

Everything costs big dollars, "oh you want 5 taps there instead of 4? that'll be an extra million"

Why do people care what the outside looks like? I go to a stadium to get a good view of the action with minimal queues. If the stadium achieves that then it's a winner. I couldn't give two f**ks what the outside looks like. How long will merkins stare at the outside for? You look at it as you walk in for a minute or so and then focus on your seat , the view and where food/drinks/toilets are for the next couple of hours, without giving two shits about the exterior.

And as was said before, If people like you made these decisions, we'd never have built the opera house.

Would like a stadium like Japan's Toyota Stadium, though at 45k its a bit too big and the retractable roof would not be necessary.

If it turned out the exterior looked a bit plain, it wouldn't cost too much to buy the Big Merino and split it down the middle and put one half on the top of the East and West stands. A tribute to Macarthur's agricultural past.

More seriously, it'd be good if the Stadium had a bit architectural flair...and the best ideas don't always cost much more money.
