You are talking about ballancing a budget --- correct.

In October 2012, Wayne Swan announced a budget update which revealed revenue downgrades worth $21 billion from projected tax revenue and $4 billion from the current financial year. Lower commodity prices and falling tax receipts reduced the current forecast surplus to $1.1 billion.[8] Spot prices for iron ore, thermal coal and coking coal decreased by 15 to 35% since the budget was released in May.[9] The update also showed the cost of processing asylum seekers has increased by $1.1 billion.

Now correct me if I am wrong here but Reefy and my best mates Gina and Twicky might just be up for a bit of MRRT-es if the record prices keep coming. That's what the MRRT was meant to do.

You might not read about it in the papers.

IT WOULD BE REAL FUNNY IF AUSTRALIANS STARTED TO GET SOME INCOME FROM THE MINING BOOM.

GO Quigs! The lefties hero full of bullshyte that nobody cares about.
End of the day, people will read Rupes papers. They will make their mind up that Slipper was a rorter & got caught for being un-Australian commie sympathiser like a unionist. If he had not have done the wrong thing, he would have swam into oblivion & collected his retirement.
Now he is facing an appeal from Ashby against a politically motivated judicail decion & a federal police enquiry into corruption & fraud for which he will definitely lose his pension & may go to jail.
That is the dividend when you f**k over people like Tony Abbott.
End of story. Reprint all your lefty blogs all you like Quigs. You & the other loonie lefties are the only ones that read it.

But they do Quigs.

All those who work in the industry and all those businesses that supply goods and services to the companies involved in the industry.

The company I work for spends approx. $170m in this area alone. Then there is the money that is given to local charities, schools etc. They have scholarships for local kids and provide sponsorship to local sporting groups.

The Carbon Tax and MRRT were introduced to prop up and inept government. They see the mining companies as a deep pocket that they should have their hands in. Someone else risks their dollars and ends up making good coin. Well, to my understanding that's the Aussie way not let someone else take all the risk and then want a share of it for doing absolutely nothing.

Imagine if this government were running the mines - phuk me they'd be broke inside a year.

That's my rant in this thread.

PS - I hope you have all read that greasy Roxon's draft of national anti-discrimination laws. Another great piece of legislative writing from a failed lawyer.

Slash and burn as government cuts firefighting funds
EXCLUSIVE by Andrew Clennell
The Daily Telegraph
January 11, 2013 12:00AM

RURAL Fire Service firefighters yesterday attacked damaging cuts to its frontline operation, saying the bushfire-ravaged state was now in even greater danger.

They said a NSW government decision to slash cash for the replacement of tankers and fire brigade stations over the past year had severely hurt their fire-fighting capability.?Governments cut emergency services at their peril,? RFS president Mr Brian McKinlay said yesterday.

We all know the mining industry has been propping up the economy, it's no coincidence that when prices drop Wayne finds himself deeper in the shit, luckily the really big multi nationals cut a deal that sees them pay f**k all compared to the locally run companies.

Hopefully bhp will revisit Olympic dam in preference to chile.

Company tax receipts and jobs would be affected by the shelving of large mining projects.

The lefty way, strangle the goose that lays the golden eggs, because you have no idea how much it bolsters local economies.

Surely you are talking through your arse. You do realise that The Park is in Central Qld.

I just have a hunch that I might know a little bit more about mining and the local economies then you. Now where do you live again.

I've actually been involved in mining industry related work.

They are a multi-national company which I suspect you know anyway. They are also owned by shareholders of which there are plenty of Aussies that also includes their employees.

Their profits were huge but isn't that the reason you go into business - to make money and as much as you can?

Yes Coastal... but you should remember ... the well will run dry. They should compensate accordingly if they are getting record prices for the product.

The country they also get their wealth from is a share holder too. A bloody big one at that.
