f**kushima plant leaks radioactive water

The operator of Japan's f**kushima nuclear plant says at least 45 tonnes of highly radioactive water has leaked from the facility, possibly into the Pacific Ocean.

A statement by the operator TEPCO said workers noticed a leak in a purification device, with radioactive water escaping through a crack in a catchment wall.

The leaking water contained about 1 million times as much strontium as the maximum safe level.

Strontium is easily absorbed by living tissue and can cause cancer.
TEPCO says some of the 45 tonnes or more of contaminated water may have reached the Pacific Ocean.

Last week, TEPCO reported that molten fuel rods at the plant may have eaten two-thirds of the way through a concrete containment base.

The statement was based on a new simulation of the March meltdowns.
It said the latest calculations suggest the nuclear fuel inside the No. 1 reactor has melted entirely.

Simulations predict the molten fuel has eaten through 65 centimetres of concrete in a containment base below, stopping just 37 centimetres short of an outer steel casing.

It is also believed the molten core has eaten part of the way through the concrete bases of the No. 2 and 3 reactors.

The findings indicate the facility came much closer to a cataclysmic meltdown than previously thought.

Now the truthful reporting, not a report through the lying left greeny zealots at ABC

When looking at Nuclear Quigs, you would be best served to stick the facts & not your idiot greeny websites like the ABC who spruik nothing but green/left exagerations.
Also, the first sign you are losing a debate, is to claim early victory or that your opponent is being battered.
Debating 101.
In this entire thread you ave failed to come up with anything tangible other than blue skys & its not falling.
Rupert is still there & will continue to be. Same his son. They will be richer for the experience. Literally.
Joycey is still there & he got a pay rise. He will get another one.
The pilots unions are losing & will lose.
f**kishima is ahead of schedule to restoration & people are going to begin moving back soon.
Windmills are dead(thank f**k).
Solar is on the up, because we all subsidise it, but, it is the most expensive source of baseload power on the planet.
Nukes are on the increase, despite alarmists warning the industry is dead after japan.
labor has never been in a wore polling position in history. History shows that never recovers. NSW libs are in power now & QLD soon will be when bligh gets absolutely belted. Then Victoria. Then the Feds, irrespective of who the leader is.

Enjoy your golden 2 years Quigs, as after that , your self imposed purgatory is going to be extremely painful for you, for about 10-20 years, unless you come to your senses.

You shoud know one fact Reefy, it is not too hard to confuse an old fart like myself. You tell poor old Quigs to go and get the facts off a link that you got your facts off.

Then you tell me the facts that you were talking about from "your" link are not true and correct facts, but just facts to support the facts, that you think might happen to be future facts, because your facts are factual.

When looking at Nuclear Quigs, you would be best served to stick the facts & not your idiot greeny websites like the ABC who spruik nothing but green/left exagerations.

Whose TEPCO Reefy? The mob mentioned in the greeny left wing ABC article.?

The Facts Baby, nothing but the facts.... we need facts.

Can't argue with facts Baby.

And you printed this... with a link to that ... which said this ...

FACTS BABY, NOTHING BUT THE FACTS.

60 reactors currenty being built. 20 being upgraded with new cores. 10 brand new ones
Try this link

LAst months samples My man on the ground has facebooked the last figures which should be released soon.

Also note that farming in the prefecture is now back under way with a few minor plant exceptions & obviously strict controls in place.
27 diretors? Wow. So what. Its a nightmare over there after the natural disaster. Would be a hard gig with idiot alrmists like Suzuki running around scaring people needlessly.

Honestly the defence rest your worship.

Honour-a-bull Reefy Sons says... (see above - reprinted below)

AFTER the natural disaster of japan. 1,000,000 Windmills still supplying less than 1 millionth of 1 percent of the worlds baseload power supply, while 1000 reactors supply over 50%.

Honour-a-bull Reefy Son says .... and directs to check facts on link

60 reactors currenty being built. 20 being upgraded with new cores. 10 brand new ones

From Honour-a-bull Reefy Sons supplied link .....

Today there are some 440 nuclear power reactors operating in 30 countries plus Taiwan, with a combined capacity of over 376 GWe. In 2010 these provided 2630 billion kWh, about 14% of the world's electricity.

-------------------------------------

Stooopid me, pardon me while I just do some maffs.

Reefys says 1000's, lets just make it a neat .... 1000
Reefys supplied article says ............................ 440

Old Quigs maffs makes it a minor difference of ...560

Next ......

No wonder you have made it so high up in the ranks of the IPA, the Independent Think Tank. With Facts like that you should make it to the top.

Siemens plans to pull out of the nuclear energy business, CEO Peter Löscher told SPIEGEL. After the f**kushima nuclear disaster "the chapter is closed," he said. The company will expand its renewable energy activities instead.

Siemens, the German engineering and industrial titan, is planning to exit the nuclear energy business, Siemens head Peter Löscher told SPIEGEL magazine in an interview.

"The chapter is closed for us," Löscher said. "We will no longer be involved in managing the building or financing of nuclear plants."
He attributed the decision to the nuclear disaster at f**kushima in Japan and to the German public's fear of nuclear energy. He said the company was responding to "German society and politics' clear position on ending nuclear energy."
Earlier this year German Chancellor Angela Merkel made a surprise U-turn, announcing that all of the nation's 17 nuclear reactors would be shut down by 2022. Her decision makes Germany the first major industrialized power to cease using atomic energy and contrasted with her previous plan to extend the life of German nuclear plants.
The decision by Siemens to follow suit comes after a difficult patch for its nuclear business. An arbitration tribunal in May ordered the German company to pay €648 million ($927 million) to France's Areva after it failed to meet contractual obligations in a nuclear joint venture with Areva that it left earlier this year.
Emphasis on Renewables
In the SPIEGEL interview, Löscher said that the Munich-based firm would continue to manufacture components, such as steam turbines, which are used in the conventional power industry and can also be used in nuclear plants.

The nuclear exit would mean that the company would shelve a long-planned joint venture with Russian nuclear firm Rosatom, he said, adding that he still wanted to work with the Russian partner in other areas.
Damn ABC greenie corporations

So Mr Angry, if that mob Siemens is pulling out of the Nuclear Power construction, would that mean that some of the Reactors IPA Reefy had ticked are not going to be ticked.

So we have a few minuses, and not many pluses, with the Germans closing down how many? 17 was it?

Oh well, I will wait with baited bad breath for our resident Institute of Public Affairs Rep to come in and fix up your figures.

Because "Youse is wrong, like me"

Yes Quigs big business is seeing nuclear is not actually that cost effective.

I actually have no objection to them, when the correct designs and locations are observed. However safeguards get overlooked, corners get cut, people but them on coastlines where the name tsunami comes from, others leave them to decay.

In the end it is poor regulation.

I would be happy to build 400 of them in the vast stable deserts of Central Australia and run a cable to Asia. Regulated correctly, we could buy our own U and make billions.

Union workforce of course, that will keep safety high which nuclear needs. No weasels.

You mean when they did bust the MUA & left the Union a crippled wreck that will never recover & made the wharfs for the first time in Australia history an efficient profitable business.

And on the rubbish Siemens article, Siemens had actually pulled out of atomic energy 10 years ago. They were considering a return to the industry in joint venture with the French, but were unable to meed contractual commitments on supplies & so legged it & paid the French about a billion dollars for the f**k up.

Now that germany is over run by greeny lunatics & leftist goons, they reckon they will remove all reactors ey.
We'll see. Times change. The anti green wheels is starting to spin by itself now.

Oh , Im not over excited. I'm just looking at the things as they stand now & history.
Both of thsoe things are saying Labor is pharked to the point of being a minor party. Even Labor heavy weights are saying that.
Word on the street is that the feds will go to the polls much earlier than 2 years & cut their losses. There are many seats that will likely to fall to the coalition. They have pharked up there little "in power" session remarkably. Remarkably. In 2 years they may be lucky to win 30 seats.
Bill Shorten???? Lets hope so!!!! Smarmy despised k.hunt!!!
