OT: Smith to Sharks

I personally don't get all the anti-Tim Smith stuff. He left us with serious mental health issues and I hope he's better now. It would be a shame if the player who was a superb halfback for us in 2005 and 2007 was lost to the NRL. Maybe he won't be an Eel again but he didn't leave us on bad terms, it was a bit more complicated than that.

Apart from Hayne's brilliance last year is it any coincidence that our best years have been when the team has had a quality half-back. ie 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2005 and 2007.

Wonder where they will hide him..Alongside Albert or Josh?

Stories coming out of the Broncos (compliments of 3rd parties) is that his defence has improved. His shoulders are stronger, his upper body strength has improved. He has obviously put the hours in. He would have been in the Broncos 17 if either Wallace or Lockyer were injured.

Like I said late last year/early this year, Timmy represents our worst nightmare. Lets hope his bipolar issue gets in the way..... a stuff up with his medication, ala Langlands, the needle and those infamous white boots vs Roosters 1975.... otherwise he could (and should if he is on-song) decimate our defence next week.

I hope I am wrong......... but people do change, if they really want to. Remember, we all have the gift of free-will. There is too much hanging on to Timmy's past-stuff to our detriment.

Ohhh Paul & Daniel, why didn't you grab Timmy when he wanted to come back to the Eels. He had so much he wanted to give back to this club....

Casper,
I think the biggest reason for him not returning to Parramatta is the fact that the club has changed alot over the last 12 months with regards to our CEO and coaching staff.
I as much as anyone else am a HUGE fan of Tim Smith but at the end of the day his time at Parramatta has ended as our CEO has publically announced that we aren't in the market for him. I hope Tim Smith is successfull as he was my favourite play only a couple of years ago and i truely hope he continues his Nrl career.

Geez Cronulla is having a field day with ex Parramatta players, who's next?

Pity its not helping them on the field. I think the main problem with Cronulla is discipline, they give away too many dumb penalties. As well as that they cant hang onto the ball.

Smith would probably provide some spark, but needs support. I dont think he's get any at Cronulla.

I'm tipping he'll start at 7 next week and will probably have a blinder as all ex parra players generally do against us.

I thought up to whenever Souths scored their first try, they were looking OK tonight.

But geeze, as soon as souths got in front, the sharks havent just gotten worse.

The last Albert Kelly high ball incident was pretty funny....ruled a turn over because in trying to catch it, Kelly didnt even touch it!!!

Christ I;m glad we let Kelly go....what a rubbish player! He's nowhere near ready for this grade and never showed the attitude needed to get there...

Well the good news is he only gets to play against us once or twice this year freeing us up from this nightmare to get on with winning this comp. If what we are seeing are shades of last year.... ohhh dear..... could it happen... will it happen........next week........ Sharks 38 Eels 4 ....... is this the kick up the arse this bunch of sleepers require to awaken the giant within.... I hope not...
Come on Timmy, catch the flu on the flight coming down, have a two day turn-a-round fallout with your coach...

Even thou Barret is playing on I think he has a broken rib (by his reaction) and that would probably keep him out so we could see

1 Kelly

6 Morris
7 Smith

which could be realy funny after we saw Lyon, Williams, Farah and Hodgkinson play against us v Manly. We are the Fedder clup to most sydney side arnt we (esp teams outside of western sydney)

He may have had a game or two there...not sure though, and not sure why Stuart would see even one or two games as a reason to play him there. Sticky really is a terrible coach...and I think this could be a career killing game for Kelly, we may not see him for years if ever again at this rate.
