It's like a backhanded compliment - he is taking the blame for not addressing how bad the players were at training and therefore impliedly on Sunday in the game - but stressing that normally he would do that because he is such a perfectionist.

What a massive tool. He is nominally taking the blame but really making sure everyone understands it was the players who haven't met his impossibly high standards ...

I just like how he says he has taken the blame because he wasn't hard enough on them, but in reality isn't actually taking the blame.

As disappointed as I was at the time about the way the end of last year panned out, I am very happy with what Arthur's' and co are doing now.

Personally I couldn't give a tinker's cuss about Ricky Stuart OR the Canberra Raiders.
If Canberra some how go on and achieve success and RS happens to be at the helm then so be it.
All I care about is that the Eels are the best they can possibly be , compete all the time , and hopefully move up the ladder to eventually win a premiership in the next few years
