A great post from the NRL forum.

Stuart's behaviour during the press conference was a study in mental fragility. First year psychology students could assess the footage and diagnosis his underlying problems. As a player and during the early stages of his coaching career he was typically cocky and abrasive but years of failure as a coach has brought him to the precipice of a breakdown. Look at the press conference again and you'll notice that his voice is wavering, he is lost for words on a number of occasions and at other times he displays hostility towards the journalists without reason. He looks as if he's in the final throes of denial and he's finally be coming around to the realisation that he's not a good coach. Given Stuart's competitive nature it would be a very sobering epiphany for him.

That's my pseudo-analysis for you.

I don't think this is the thread for that.

Keep the niceties in the Brad Arthur thread.

I wasn't trying to be polite to Ricky. I was trying to be polite to the blokes who kept telling me he was an honourable type and that he was sticking with the Eels......and who told me I was wrong when I persistently raised his win/record over the past 5 years.

Ricky is a good coach. He left Parra in a stronger position than when he started.

OMG you're right.

Put it down to Spags, I'm thinking ? Some people don't see things like u do. Best signing since Jack Gibson without a doubt.

Thanks Spags

Thanks Ricky

Sticky did leave us in a better position than when he arrived. Same as the previous coach.

This squad wasn't built over the off season, or even over the past year.

I think you meant "cringe worthy", but I agree.

Both previous coaches left us with wooden spoons, Anderson and Hagan never did that!

Hagan and Anderson had better squads.

Stuart won a premiership at the Chooks so maybe the quality of the roster has a big impact on the team's results.

Kearney came 14th and then last (with 6 wins). The year after he left us with a squad that also came last but with only 5 wins. I'm not sure he ever improved our squad

He signed most of the current squad.

Remember 2012 and 2013 were ruined by injury, especially with Hayne missing 21 games over that period.
