The Kingston ? , that one was cool cause they had one of those cook your own steak set ups ...
Umm another was right behind the Suites On Northbourne no idea what suburb it was .
Another was somewhere near Kingston but wasn't Kingston and was a bit la di daa and was kind of a pub but more like a bar , I remember it was Melbourne cup day and the whole street was a buzz , I ducked in to watch The Cup and put my company credit card on the bar only to meet some nice lass's and leave at 2am with a $500 tab . Had a seafood restaurant upstairs and a joint next door that sold weird meals like emu and camel .
The whole 8 weeks I was down there was like a work funded piss up in the days of unlimited PCards so I floated from restaurant to restaurant , pup to pub each night .
How long ago was this?
The Kingo still does cook your steaks I believe. The Clifton Suites on Northbourne has now been knocked down and they're close to finishing some apartments. The place your're thinking of is probably Debacle. The building Debacle was in has also been knocked down, but Debacle has moved 100 metres down the road to a new building where the Ford dealership use to be in Braddon.
The la di daa area your talking about sounds like probably Manuka, which is not far from Kingston. I doubt the place you went to is still there, places in Manuka change more often than I change my underpants!
All good places.
I'm sure Canberra can seem very quiet and ordinary to most outsiders, especially in the winter when everyone hibernates from Anzac Day to the October long week! I think you need to live in Canberra to know what to do and where to go. We're certainly not in the business of letting tourists know where we like to hang out thats for sure.
