Ultimately though wouldnt it be up to DA if tim was to come back or not? Also with no direct quotes the article is abit suspect. Im sure the board would stand by the DA's decision if he decided to bring him back.
yeah true
would be wonderful to see him back in the blue and gold

I think that Tim Smith is a lot more likely to comeback then what the Telegraph is suggesting.

Tim's heart is with Parra, I wouldn't be suggesting that he is definetly not coming back just yet...

tim has always said how much passion he has for the club, and how he supported them in his youth.

come on DA, bring him home!

Tim's heart may still be at Parra but is DA's heart with Tim coming home? that's what I'm more interested in.

so what's bert got against him?

Brett has the same opinion as me. The bloke is not up to NRL standard. That's all, topped off with the fact that he is an irresponsible goose on the grog.
Not the type of player - or bloke - I would want around the place..

stags (as your less bias then me and other tim fans haha)
what are your thoughts?
do you see tim coming back?
do you know if there is any interest from our club?

i think it would be a great halves combination
6. kk
7. t smith.

it would allow mateo to go back to the 13 and do what he does best.

He proved that in his last season here. Just about f**ked the season with his bizarre behaviour. And YOU want him back. Thank god you have no say in recruitment....

I think that will ultimately determine where Tim goes to be honest. Whether or not Anderson wants him, I for one would love to see him back.

As Stags said, DA's the man to ask the question, but personally the suggestion of KK at 6 and Tim at 7 is exactly the reason I would like to see Smith back at the club.

They would compliment each other brilliantly. Smith has the long kicking game and the great passing game which probably aren't KK's strengths. KK has the great running game, support play and is a capable defender for a half. Both of them have good short kicking games and can take the pressure off each other.

As I said I would love to see Smith back at the club, but I'm not going to be bias towards him. We do what is best for our side, or rather DA does and will. Personally I think this halves combination would be lethal behind a good/solid forward pack and Smith would definetly bring the likes of Inu back into the game and KK would bring back the traditional 5/8.

The same could be said for your little poster boy Finch, couldn't it pete? I would hope the senility hasn't erased the memory of his dummy spit and subsequent walk out, has it

I don't think it'll be too difficult to find better options tbh.

Hypothetical here Stags, if you were DA who would you be after?

I'm not sold on Mortimer the performances I've seen from in NYC have been ok/solid but he has gone missing at times, as has Kelly.

I have played with/against a lot of the current NYC boys. From the halves of NYC TK is probably the pick of them imo. However I would just like to take this opportunity to announce I took a 70 metre intercept try against him a few years ago when he was playing for Lalor Park. :D I would have had a double but I knocked on the first intercept attempt.:(

But back to the question. If we were to look externally for a half, who would you be looking at if you were DA?

I said it in another thread, the club has absolutely not been in contact with Tim Smith and hasn't expressed any interest whatsoever at this stage. It's time to get over the silly fantasies...it may happen, it most likely will not, stop bringing it up EVERY-f**kING-WHERE

By the way, sorry for not being able to make it to Sterlo's bar last Friday Stags! I had a big carry bag and for some reason the Leagues club wouldn't let me in :(

For what it is worth, not much I suspect since I am not the coach, but in my opinion if we can't prize Terry Campese out of Canberra for 2011, then by far our only and best option would be to bring back Tim Smith. If we can at the same time attract some decent gorilla forwards, then I feel with a top notch running half partner in KK, who is showing he has a brilliant running game and can play as foil in attack and can take the presure of with kicks in general play, we would see the best come out of Timmy and the team as a whole.

When Tim was with us earlier he was essentially the go to man, Finch really was mainly a catch and pass player with limited options in attack and particularly in running with the ball. The burden was mainly on Tim's shoulders to come up with the big play. This was obviously too much for him to handle considering his problems. With better creative personnel around him, second time around and hopefully more maturity in dealing with his problem he could really step up this time.

The key for mine is the forwards. So like I said, if we can amass a dominating type of pack, then can you imagine having Feleti Meteo, T Smith and K Keating all playing together and each capable of creating spearheads of attack from anywhere on the field? The opposing defences would not be able to isolate one of them with numbers in defence for fear of leaving to much room for the others to do what they do. I can see it being a nightmare for teams trying to work out how to contain these three potential geniuses collectively.

If we went down this rout I can't see players like Inu and Hayne having to much problem finding holes in the defence.

I think these three have the potential of being the best attacking scrum base since we last one a GF. One other benifit of bringing back Timmy, he would be I would think, a lot cheaper a this point in time then Campese.
