The Dogs were never ahead enough after their fast start. A 4-point lead at HT wasn't enough. They still should have won. Dumb mistakes and poor game management in the final 15 did them in.

Next year will be interesting. They had a good year, apart from the past 3 weeks. Can they build on that? or are they a one-season wonder that overachieved? Like the Warriors last-year.
Teams will be ready for them next year. They will have the added pressure of expectation too.

Ciraldo should ensure he gets plenty of sleep in the off-season.

id happily welcome back Kikau and Critta - both had big moments in that game - as Chins said - the bounce for Kikau's charge down was unlucky

Burton id pass on - he aint it - a good boot which he doesnt use enough to his advantage and a fair running game - thats all he has

I would take Burton back. We would get the best out of him here. He would learn a lot playing next to Cleary.

Burton is a tricky one.

He has now played 101 games of first grade and will be 25 by the time season 2025 starts. 3 straight seasons at Canterbury playing in the halves for the vast majority of the time. Yesterday his first finals match as a half.

He was really disappointing. He went missing. Only overshadowed by an appalling performance from Mahoney. But the Dogs don't have many options in the spine, the cupboard is bare. The one thing I can see helping is Crichton at fullback.

If you look at his contemporaries Cleary has obviously exploded and become one of the best in the world. Luai is a touch older and has played with a good team his whole career but I'd call 2024 his best year of first grade. He has showed signs that he has evolved and if it continues he could be a true marquee man for the Tigers.

Burton is a long way behind both of them.

Burton is really looking like a centre who can kick big.

He's doesn't need excuses he's doing very well

If you say so. He looks like the same player.

750k is too much coin for a half to be a passenger in big moments of the contest. You need to apply the same blowtorch that you have to Luai who has actually developed and shown potential to be the number one man in a side. Burton is a very long way behind.

He needs some real props. I'll give him it'd be hard to play behind a pack run on hopes and dreams.

Too often we are talking about what else he needs and not on how he is performing.

The Dogs forwards for the most part won the contest yesterday. Field position wasn't an issue.

We pay Martin that to do nothing all year. It's not big buck these days

Fair. A lot of their field position was also due to his boot. He runs well but needs to evolve his playmaking and getting involved more.

His long kicking particularly bombs is his strong suit.

But he overplays it a bit. If you take the games best half for example (Cleary) he holds it back.

Also where is the short kicking? Luai has been marked very harshly on this at times but his short kicking has been outstanding this year. Not bad past the halfway either.

The big issue is his voice. That awkward field goal attempt yesterday sums it up. He has to become a better leader in their spine.

Great short kick for a try on Sunday

Yes I'm not looking for singular examples.

He had great short kicks into touch on his debut. Looking like a game manager in that game. Even if it's not his strong suits he needs to develop it because it's what his side needs and they don't really have other options.
