Still it's like saying sorry Moylan while you were away someone trained well. So you have to move positions btw will you tell TMM he is good enough to play for his country but not for us.

Moylan wanted to play in the halves by all reports so I doubt he minds. As for the TMM bit, so what? We have done that anyway and we did it with other players also. A rookie has to play because he got a run for kiwis now?

The end of this. He says playing at 6 never crossed his mind until asked by Hook. Also says he wasn't ready last year which fits what the coach said earlier.

Should a player lose their spot on the team because they are away playing for their country? How do we know that TMM wouldn't of trained even better than Edwards if given a full pre season

Betcats you could start a fight in telephone box with only you in it (you are Travis Burns, do I win a prize?). You attribute statements to me that are simply not true. I said "IF Hook had the good sense..then it shows good leadership". I used the word "if", because we simply don't know. My comments were aimed at those criticising him for getting help, like that in itself is poor leadership.

You may think it was obvious we had the roster for top four and I admit I got carried away with the hype too. Hooks comments have proven to be spot on. Our halves have not gelled and we have struggled to score points even when dominating field position. All, with the benefit of hindsight, entirely predictable when you look at the cold hard facts. Every team above us has a rep player either at halfback Cronk, DCE, Thurston, Pearce, Hunt or five eigth Widdop, Maloney, Morgan, Milford or an experienced player - Norman 140 games. The Storm, the Broncos and the Cowboys have two rep halves. The Storm has three if you count Smith, he is better than just about any halfback there is!

And you could spin a fight into a kissing contest in a phone box. You tried to paint me as bias when in fact you were the one trying to paint Hook in the best possible light.

As for hooks comments "proven to be spot on" are you serious? That must be the most ridiculous comment of the day. He didn't make the comments until he had coached us to a woeful first half of the season amd we already had ZERO chance of making the top four. Secondly if he is so right why didn't he come out and say it earlier in the year? Why didn't one other expert recognise what Griffin did and say it? I am not talking about my own opinion here, I am talking about guys like Gould, Sterling, Gerrard Condon, Graham Hughes, Matty Johns, Andrew johns...the list goes on. There are so many former and current players and coaches who had us in the top four in their predictions this year, basically no one had us outside it. But yeah they all know nothing.

well can you say TMM wouldn't of trained better? Yes or no

No. No one can say obviously so whats the point of asking? It literally proves f**k all. Is that the best you can come up with? He might of trained harder then our best trainer therefore we cant keep him in reserve grade where he finished last season and was quickly moved back to this season? That is so ridiculous I cant believe I am even responding.

Can you say that we wouldn't of won every game this year if we started the season with Cleary and Moylan in the halves? I win that dumb game.

I quote:

Edwards absolutely killed the offseason by all reports, Wallace even said "he has had the best offseason by anyone I can remember" that's plenty of evidence that he could handle FG.

Isn't that what you were saying here. Training form mean't he should of been the FB before he was? Completely ignoring the rest of the team's

I am saying he had no prior form to say he was good before the 9's

The captain of the club has stood by his coaches decision.... that's really ground breaking news. It takes a bit of a stupid player to publicly disagree with his coach... plenty have done it and it hasn't ended well for them at those clubs.

Well considering it is widely reported that Dylan Edwards was far and away the best trainer in the pre-season, I think it's a 99.99% chance that TMM was never going to train better than him. TMM is a terrific player with natural skill, but Dylan Edwards has an unmatched work ethic by anyone at the club currently. Josh Mansour would probably be the only player who could have matched or beaten him with a full pre-season. Although to me Edwards just seems ahead of everyone else for endurance while Mansour comes across as the leader for strength/power. Either way it's almost a certainty they would both put our pack to shame in one or both areas and no half was every going to come close to them... nor need to really.

Hmmm....i must of missed where Hiku played test footy while with us

Ha, because he was injured for half the time he was with us? Geez, you sure know how to split hairs. Fact is, he WAS a test player when he joined us, but I didn't see you standing up for him on the principle that if he plays for NZ, he must be decent. You have to believe this, right, given this is your basis for keeping TMM ahead of Moylan at 6?

Hiku lost his spot when Waqa Blake carved up when playing not from training a big difference.

Moylan was top 10 in Dally M's while playing at FB. TMM played a bit of FG finished the year NSW Cup then went on to Test status... Against a player who trained well....That is my reasoning for why not to change it

Yeah you can tell that from 1 Pre season... Can you? I know Tyrone May had no off season. The week after NYC lost he was back training for the new season. So I am sure others also trained well

A New Zealand jersey really isnt worth the same as an Australian jersey.

Isaac John was picked for New Zealand while being a reserve grader for us. Krisnan Inu got a run after a single first grade game. Hiku played 6 for the Kiwis ffs.

New Zealand has very little depth. So a few injuries and simply being able to play a position can get you in.

Moylan playing 6 for NSW is a far bigger deal then TMM getting a cameo in the Kiwis team.

Off topic but i just listened to Trent Robinson on talking sport and geez he is impressive when he talks footy, a really smart guy and everything he says just makes sense in regards to building a winning brand of footy(he was asked about this), I'd seriously consider giving up my left arm to have him coaching our squad.

I cant really see why Franklin is getting shut down so much. I think 8/10 coaches would of given first opportunity to TMM (given we had Moylan at fullback) this year, irrespective of how Edwards trained.

We finished strong last year, Why would a coach change half our spine (and potentially weaken fullback) instead of just changing our 6 (to an exceptional talent), while keeping the rest of the spine in tact? I think nearly everyone on here wanted TMM somewhere in the squad and most wanted him at 6.

People talk about TMM as if he's a run of the mill 5/8th. Kid has amazing potential, will be one of the dominant halves for the next decade.

Or have I missed the point of the arguement?
