David Seage - Hasn't let us down, yet injury prone. Very safe under high ball and a great defender.

Milton Thaiday - Attacking Machine, struggles in defence as well as the high ball.

Dustin Cooper - Strong, Safe under high ball and can be a damaging whole runner.

Who should it be?

I say Seage.

Cooper.

Seage is great in defense but is pretty awful in attack. He is very injury prone too.

Thaiday would be better suited to wing IMO. His defense is terrible at fullback, he is very suspect when under any sort of pressure or an attacking kick.

Cooper is solid in both attack and defense and the the thing i like about him is in attack he runs like a second rower. He ain't afraid to make the hard yards.

I said after the second Origin match this year that I'd love to see Cooper at fullback to form a combination with Johns much like Minichiello has.

That hasn't changed.

R&BK - I dont know how you can say Seage is "pretty awful in attack". Last year he was killing it in attack. This year he has all of a few games after over a year off before getting another totally unrelated injury - he never got a chance to get back to that form.

Just give him some time...

Alex, he never really offered alot in attack. The only thing he's got going for him is his support play.

I'd like to see

1- Dustin Cooper
2- Brian Carney
3- Matt Gidley
4- Kurt Gidley
5- Milton Thaiday

You reckon? I have vastly different memories of him last year...

Then what does Cooper have that Seage doesn't? Thaiday has the attack but lacks positional play and one-on-one defence is suspect.

I reckon that any one of them are capable of filling the fullback spot. If Milton improves his positional play and ability under the high ball, it will b a struck match between all three IMO.

Look it can only be a good thing having this much depth at such a crucial position. I'd imagine they would all spend some time there next year.

Cooper is tackle busting and deceptively fast. With his huge frame, he can use his strength to drive opponents back when returning the ball.

Tell me, who would you rather tackle on a kick-chase, the 104kg, 194cm Dustin Cooper:

or the 89kg, 182cm David Seage:

?

Also, Seage will have lost alot of agility and stepping ability with his serious knee injuries. He seemed very flat in attack this season.

Don't get me wrong, Seage is a safe fullback and would be a good back-up, but I would prefer to see Cooper or Thaiday in front of him.

If we are able to get all 3 of them in the backline with Carney next year (or even 1 on the bench) we'll be looking OK. Defence is by far our biggest problem (you can score all the points you want but if you keep letting them in whats the point?) - I would have the best defender back there. To me thats Seage. The fact that he runs well off the halves, backs up well and (no matter what R&BK says) has the ability to make a break is a bonus.

If Cooper is that big why the hell isn't he in the forwards? He's bigger than this Dumas bloke we are after...

Mate he was great in his first couple of games but so was Carmont. The games i saw of him this year he was great in defense but pretty woeful in attack.

I'd prefer to see a more all round player in Cooper out there but there is merit to having Seage there for optimum defense. We will have alot more strike power outwide next year.

Your clearly a fan of seage though....

Obviously because he has speed and skill to back it up.

Lote Tuqiri was huge as well, but he was the most dangerous outside back in league.
