Iam not to sure if many of you have relised it some may have and been to scared to comment. But next year Johns, Kidley and mullen all come of contract. I know its a long way away but i dont see them all staying at the one club and with joey saying he could play till he is 35 i dont see him going. I dont see him signing to another club as the reason he is staying with the knights is to be close to his boy. So it will come down to mullen vs kidley i vote for mullen he has far more potential but i think i know what our admin will do. Unless kidley is will to play centre or fullback i dont see them both staying. Your thoughts

Mullen is the future of this club. He must be re-signed!

Though both Jarrod and his mother assured me after the Penrith game he is a Novacastrian through and through. :D

agreed JM - depending on Joey's fitness and how much game time we get out of him next year.

yosh
i think Mullens should play in the no.6 jersey for us for the next 12 to 15 years man!
sure Kidley has shown us what he can do but i personally think he is too inconsistant and gets injuired at training more often then most! keep Mullens and Johns but should put a decent effort in to keep Kidley as well to play as a lock or a centre. he really does have an excellent kick chase game and defends like a monster, he also has a good step on him... what do you guys say?

Time to cut Johns loose.
We are in the predicament we are in now because we arn't getting value from Johns.
Johns should retire with dignity - in fact, if he did it now it would give us a chance to perform next season.

Mullo has to be re-signed, IMO when they finish signing players for this year, they should concentrate on him. Kidley should also stay, would be a very good centre. But if he asks for anything more than about 150k, I agree JM, we should tell him to go elsewhere.

Roopy - I beg to differ. I say we reevaluate at the end of the season...He still has gold left in him.
In saying that....re-sign Mullen. That boy is the future.

Mullen is the main one we have to keep. He is the priority signing.

Johns comes second for once in his life.

We simply wont be able to afford Johns on another contract, unless he signifcantly reduces his asking price. The last thing we want next year is a repeat of the farce we had last year. Johns has a lot of making up to do for the remainder of this season IMO. We have outlayed a huge amount of our cap this year for very little return. He's a great player, no denying that, but it is costing the club dearly having him on the books. At $500,000-$600,000 a year he needs to be on the paddock and in top form for the full season.

I agree, if he loves the club so much surely Johns could take a pay cut in his next contract (if there is one). We also need to give pretty average players, which we have a lot of, pay cuts

Re-sign Joey and Mullen.

f**k Kidley off if he wants anything above $150K

If he wants more than $130K f%$# him off. $3.25M fivided by 25 = $130k for an AVERAGE player. If Joey gets $500k then we need to be paying a lot of top 25 players between $37k and $70k to make up. Kidly is an AVERAGE player like his now below Average and expensive brother on $280k

Kidley is an "EVERAGE PLAYER" ??

Mate if you really believe that then youre kidding.. He has been a good club man whos played out of position at times to his detriment.

It easy to bag a blokes ability when hes injured and not playing..

Kurt Gidley will be one of our top 3-4 players for the next 10 years , Little People get used to it mate...

Dude...we are full of "good club men" who are average footballers who are made to be bigger and better than they really are. Kurt Gidley very rarely plays out of position, and sure as hell wont play out of 5/8 when he comes back even though there is a bloke who has done a far better job than he has this year already playing there.

What will be interesting to see is who pays the price (besides Sarge) for our first ever spoon. I'm guessing nobody...
