Maloney has it in him to turn things around but as things stand right now moylan is out in front. It was not that way earlier in the year but it is now imo.

It’s certainly looking that way. Maloney will come good. We’ve been disrupted for a good part of the year. If Cleary and Maloney fire then we will do some damage. If it’s up to one or the other then I’d be worried

We are 6th as we were last year. This time last year we were 9th. So an improvement so far

Given Cleary missed 9 games out of 19 played. Who is behind our improvement?
The NRL for giving us a draw similar in difficulty to last year but in reverse.

And Kikau.

We lost to 3 of the bottom 4 though which last year wasn't the case. The senior guys have all done a good job but it is too soon to say if we are better off or not

What do you use to determine that though? That was behind my question.

Individual form. Team form. Team results. The fact that Moylan has carved us up twice including once head to head with Jimmy counts. Maloney has thrown intercepts two or three games in a row.

Even in his worst season of football(2017) Moylan still won games for us all on his own. In his best season(2016) he was playing like he did against us every week for the back half of the year.

So if Sharks lose to Broncs on Thurs and we win. We jump them does that suddenly make our team form better?

Blake, Cleary and few others missed the 1st time. And we had 10 out the 2nd time... Hardly like we were full strength either time

It is where we are at the end up the year that can be used to judge

Individual form is by far the biggest factor. When Maloneys form was better I was giving him all the credit and you were in here acting smug. Now Moylans form is better and the excuses are coming out, just cop it mate. There is no excuse for a performance like Maloneys on the weekend. Fair enough players miss tackles or throw bad passes but for a guy of Maloneys experience to completely loose his head is f**king shocking.

You and Martie like to act like its the Moylan fans that are unreasonable, but go back and check this thread, when Maloney was playing well we all gave him credit and owned up to being wrong, now he is playing shit and Moylan looks much better and none of anti Moylan posters cant hack it.

Why don't you tell us again how one big shot will put Moylan is his shell LOL.

No it is the unrealistic expectations you demand perfection no matter the circumstances

Going into this round they had 4 injured players.
We had 8.
We also had 4 players play origin.
Another 2 play in that stupid Denver test. They had 1

It is hardly a like for like comparision anyway given one team is settled one team isn't. Of course a team plays better

At the very least we can say Maloney is well down on his previous form though.

Compared to last year? Nope he has improved. From his best yep down but new circumstances. That said Prelim Final atm should still be the minimum. For me only injuries will stop those expectations

I meant from his time here when Cleary was out and he was playing great individually.

Moylan is playing great in a winning side while Maloney is playing poorly in a side which is really struggling.

I not sure what purpose it serves to draw comparisons between the two.

Serious injuries, inexperienced roster, players playing with niggling injury & fatigue and deficiencies in key areas have caught up with us.

Hopefully we turn things around and string a few wins together leading into the semi finals but I fear most of the other sides in the top 8 are in a far better position than we are.

When he 1st took over and carved up Edwards, Blake, Mansour and Wallace were in the side. I don't think his form or the teams looks as bad if we kept that 17 the whole time. We slowly lost more guys and got worse.

We had a brief spike before Origin. Then fell away big time. If we get to that level again we will go well. So I am waiting to our season is finished before I judge him or the side

Injury wise most teams are better than us. We just need to find a way to get the most out of who we have left available

I understand that Franklin and I am hoping we can win half of our remaining games to at least make the bottom half of the 8 and then who knows but the signs aren't good and it is a shame things beyond our control have conspired against us.

the whole Maloney v Moylan - is it fair to consider as well that Maloney will help our Cap when he is moved on (likely next year), if we had Moylan and if he was playing a good he has, it would pretty much come down to picking him or Cleary for the future, no way we could keep both....

RCG and DWZ to come into the side along with the Origin guys having blinders might be enough to paper over the winger issues. Injuries will hit other sides too and might play into our hands we are due some luck eventually

Losing half your spine is just too big a mountain to climb. People need to adjust their expectations

If it’s nots a like for like comparison stop arguing it with me. You were happy for the comparison to be made earlier in the year when the sharks spine was changing every week and Maloney was playing good and getting raved about in here, but now it’s not fair to compare them? Lol get outta here.

Put it this way if we had moylan instead of Maloney on Friday I think it’s very unlikely we concede 50. Moylan was off the rails last year out every other night and on drugs according to posters on this forum and yet never ever played that bad.

Matt Moylan is no longer a Panther, and that makes me happy.
