I hope he pulls his head in...

He was heading for the scrapheap in Auckland with his shitty attitude. But that can often happen when you've been at one place too long...

Looking at how well willie is going I can't see why uncle Wayne can't turn big rusty around...

You get him going good... With Snowden, willie, Scott and jezza already in that pack... You blokes will be looking the goods!!

He doesn't have to look far for encouragement, all he has to do is look at how BJ and Dane, and Willie have turned things around and he'll have Willie, Jez and Beau as mentors in the pack

I'm happy with any signing Bennett makes. That certainly gives a bit more in the middle.

How do you think Bennett will work the prop rotation and bench??? Will House be part of the weekly prop rotation with Willie, Kade and Russell???? And if so, what do you think the bench will be if all players are available??? Where does someone like Korbin Sims fit in???

Are there any NYC players that will play regualar grade next year?

I dont know about NYC but the only forward Id be bringing up from NSWCup is Sims and Id be looking at him as a back rower/lock.

Frei still looks green, Likiliki unfit, Smith is off to another club (Storm?) and I havent seen enough of Vaivai to judge

Toka Likiliki has too much potential to be ignored. Can't defend for shit from what I've seen... and has a pretty tiny motor... but I can't help but think Bennett will try very hard to make something of this incredible unit. He's a rare kind of battering ram.

Brilliant signing. Young Russ will be a gun under Bennett. He is tough. Loves the rough stuff. What we would have given to have him marking JWH on Saturday night.

Excellent signing. Wayne will polish him into a diamond. Has all the potential and is one mean f**king hombre.
Really? I cant say I know about him as I really havent paid attention to the Warriors. I hope your right as we need a couple more bad ass mongrels in our pack. Then just imagine what our back line will do.....happy days ahead.

Packer was 90% of all mongrel in the Warriors team - we will be a bunch of cuddly, smiling fluffers without him.

His compartment syndrome is of the more serious nature, as he was born with it I believe. He's had surgery in the past but possibly requires more from what I hear, as it impacts both his lower and upper legs. Legs are fine one minute then f**ked the next.

Packer is a defensive juggernaut and will put in 110% every minute he is able to play. We really missed his clean up work around the ruck this season, not to mention the anger he puts into tackles.

Pretty jealous you guys have signed my favourite player, tbh. Hope he goes f**king awesome, and under Bennett I expect he will.

If we've signed him up for 4 years, I would wager that medically we feel we can either manage it or fix him long term. Then again, it wouldn't be the first time we had our pants pulled down for not following through with a bit of due diligence.

Wayne's not stupid. I'd wager this signing will be very strong. I like Packer and the way he plays, to know he's been doing it in pain only increases my respect for him... which is lucky for him, because I lost just about all of it when he was caught pissing on the field, lol. He's got good minutes and stats in him when he is healthy, too.

The thing that disappoints me with how this has ended is the fact he's in his mid 20s now...

He shouldn't need mentoring anymore... I hope it's maybe just a change of environment and working under the most respected coach in the games history that will turn him around.

He was VERY lucky coming through the Warriors he had the best 2 mentors you could ask for as a prop... Ruben Wiki and Steve Price brought him through... I know that Pricey in particular took him under his wing from very early on which helped him a lot.

I haven't heard anything from Pricey since this had all happened but I would assume he would be pretty annoyed at the the way Rusty departed.

I think in the end it was by far the best thing for both clubs as he was starting to become a real cancer in the club .

A change of environment can do the world of good for some blokes, and there's not a better environment for him to get dropped into at the moment. 4 years is a big contract, that's a lot of confidence shown from Wayne. What I like about it more than anything is that it's bound to be on the cheap, we have struck whilst the iron is hot, Packer's stocks would be very low at this point when compared with the value and potential he can provide.

Wayne doesn't f**k around with contracts, he doesn't mind signing a bloke up for a year, for 2 years... whatever.

8. Snowden
9. Gidley
10. Packer
11. Rochow
12. Scott
13. Smith

14. McKinnon
15. Mason
16. Cuthbo
17. Clydsdale

Sims will probably feature in there somewhere, too. I reckon Wayne will have something like that figured in his mind at this early stage. That is a big, mean pack that will hurt the opposition. Pre-season should be interesting... Packer really adds a lot to our roster. He's definitely that extra prop we've been lacking. Really excited about this one. I guess if we can't get big minutes from him due to the injury he'll act as more mongrel from the bench. We're going to have a shitload of depth in the pack next year.

Packer, Sonny Fai, Ben Matuliino... they're the best forwards the Warriors have had come through NYC. Packer was one of the best if not the best go forward prop out of that comp. So its sad that he has had to go. There's no doubt though he's way down on form due to the injuries. He averaged 54 metres this year. IIRC Todd Lowrie averaged more.

I hope Russell gets over this issue. Because if he does, I have no doubt he has the ability to be a top 5 prop in the NRL. Talk about disgraceful luck, because honestly when I watched him coming through NYC he was the can't miss prospect. Crazy bad luck.

From everything I've heard, its not really a matter of him being mentored. Its a matter of the bloke is physically incapacitated by this injury.

You don't go from having the best motor of any young prop going around to barely being able to do a role in first grade unless somethings awry.

I am starting to get very concerned...... where is the outcry over the signing?

Come on Knights fans, you are embarrassing yourselves.

I just don't understand why would we sign him up for so long if he was as irreparably damaged as claimed.
