Panthers sack Griffin 4 weeks from finals

Everyone is assuming that the Tigers would release Ivan from his contract if the Panthers approach him. No indications so far that this would occur as it would result in more upheaval for the Tigers than they need at the moment.
IMO,Ivan Cleary will NOT be going to the Panthers. The last thing this Panthers club wants to do is interfere with the progress and development of a great club like the Wests Tigers, their fans and sponsors.

It would be an insult to Cleary and his son for Gould to go cap in hand to go back to Penrith after he was shown the door.

What Penrith needs ATM is a solid performing experienced coach who will take this club forward by being fully competitive, and stay there.

I honestly don't think we give a f**k about the tigers and their development.

I have no hate for the Tigers and I have serious reservations about the Dad/Son combo potentially ending up here, but if Ivan does come back the thought of that Tiger Woody knob having his insides knotted up over it will make it worthwhile.
I'm not taking any notice of any outside media speculation until I read it directly from the club in regards to Cleary. But like I said earlier,it would be a bad day for the Tigers if this happened. Maybe the Panthers might soften the blow with some ongoing promising player transfers from the Panthers to the Tigers.

Wait for the exodus of Tigers to Penrith.

When Ivan left NZ, every off contract Warrior was linked to Penrith then Wests
No.

We have most of our squad already signed up for the better part of next season, and some beyond, although MWZ and Tim Grant are coming back to Penrith from the Tigers. Those deals were announced weeks ago.

Would be a dog act from the Panthers
And what kind of act on behalf of Cleary is it,if he goes? It takes two to tango. Penrith,if they are actually offering the position to Cleary, won't be twisting his arm to go. At the end of the day,all this will be on Cleary if he decided to leave the WT...which I'm adamant he won't.

Would be a dog act from him too, he hasn't even completed a full season at the Tigers. But it is also low from the Panthers, approaching a coach who has 2 years to run on his contract and influencing him to break that contract.

I'm with you on that. I think the Panthers won't get Cleary. How do we know if Nathan Cleary won't jump ship for another huge contract if the Panthers do get him for a few years. What goes around...

No it isn't. Panthers owe Tigers nothing. The loyalty of a club is to it's members and sponsors.

Of course Panthers OWE Tigers nothing, but at some stage all clubs owe the game something. The way this game is having it's soul and integrity stripped from it, there is less and less to support.

Rugby League once had loyalty and honour as a core principle. Just corporate greed now.

Of course it is, but it's ok because it is your club doing it lol. Puts you guys up there with the other win at all cost clubs. Scummy scummy move.

No one would like it happening to their club and I like the Tigers. They are my second team as much as someone can have one. Panthers haven't done anything wrong. They've asked the question and it's up to Ivan and the Tigers to handle that the best they can.

It's funny that it's our club getting the blame when it's the Tigers coach who had a secret meeting two weeks ago. Always easier to blame the other party.

No the blame lays at both, if Cleary goes, still a big if, then he is a grub of the highest order. Either way Panthers have acted poorly and now need to be included with the other scummy clubs in the NRL.

I don't see how you can say the Panthers are dogs for trying to sign the coach they believe is the best fit (whatever their reasoning).

It's certainly weird and pretty unprofessional, having sacked him, to then try and pry him away from the club that gave him another shot. But that's about it.

A positive for the Panthers out of this is the possibility of Ivan coming to coach then again meaning that Nathan will stay as he desires to be coached by his dad.
