Everything about this reminds me of the Stuart-Raiders thing
From the moment Furner was sacked it was known that Stuart would replace him... there was weeks of bullshit before it was formally announced but the simple fact is, the club had assurances that Stuart would come, which is why they ultimately were willing to sack Furner.

I would bet good money Cleary has already given the panthers assurances he's going to coach them.
Ivan's going to be coaching the panthers next year, which absolutely f**king sucks for the Tigers, but it's best they get used to that.

Great news for the panthers, it means they'll keep Nathan which is the only thing that matters for them right now, i dont really blame Gould, he has to do this, if he lets Nathan walk out the door, he's getting fired, that's just how it works in sport. So he's gotta do what he's gotta do to make sure Nathan is signed long term, if that means being an absolute f**king dirt bag and f**king over the tigers.. so be it

Unless Cleary has a release clause in his Tigers contract, then the Tigers can prevent him from taking up a position elsewhere whilst under contract. That's established employment law.
He had a year to run on his deal with the Warriors when Gould came knocking. He got out of that.
I don't recall any clauses.
From memory at the time the Warriors were quite strong he wouldn't be leaving. He left.
Madness to go back to a club that sacked you.

If he gives notice I doubt they could stop him. From everything I've read this stuff is hard to uphold in court.

On a time defined contract there would have to be compensation for breaking the contract early. Though why he would go back to a club that had already sacked him once because they didn’t think he can coach is beyond me.

So, 4 weeks ago Robbie Farah comes back to Wests Tigers, 2 weeks later Ivan has a meeting with Penrith about returning. This morning James Maloney makes reference to the players running the show at Wests Tigers on the big sports breakfast hmmmm

Not sure. We could offer Tigers a player or two. All our lower grades are the best in the comp and we have a couple of senior players who are worth a bit to a team like Tigers.

Insane if true.

Shit go by Gus. It looks like young Cleary is running the place now so it’ll be interesting to see how the father/son combo works out, especially if his form starts to drop off.

Tigers should sign Maguire.

He commented in the past tense, he mentioned that the tigers "were" a club that players had to much say in the past.

So the tigers beat rabbitohs and dragons. Then on a night where their heads were not there against the dogs Gould comes out saying he won't stop Ivan coaching his son which could of been a cheeky line to say at panthers. Maybe the side knew of this meeting and the team was playing like something was up?

Cleary's coaching record is really not that great, only 47% career win record. If Tigers can get Maguire or Hasler or a gun younger coach they may be better off.

Cleary wanted an extension to his Warriors contract. At the time we were in a midseason slump and weren't willing to commit.

Gould came in and offered a long term deal and security. The Warriors wouldn't reconsider their stance at that time so granted a release.

They then went on an unlikely run to the GF and the rest is history (most of it bad for Warriors supporters).

Was a much different situation than what's happening now.
