Dogs will get him for 800k a season. They have 6mil spare in the cap apparently.

Just sign him for a million a season for 10yrs and back end it all til the last year and pray for a huge salary cap increase lol. Or they can do a treasure hunt and find a paper bag in a speed boat?

he'd be a groat pick up!

I think Grant is seasoned, 2 inches taller than Groat so going by the NRL site that puts Grant over 6ft 5in. He has also played well at SOO level. Groat is also only 22 so very young for a frontrower and his best is probably 2yrs away where as Grant at 26 is a prime age and with a change of club should have something to prove. Just my opinion

Apparently McKendry as another they are trying to offload. Doesn't make sense you would want to offload two props particularly at this time of the season.

I wonder if Gus would consider a clean swap for Grant/Mckendry with Hunt/Harrison? Dousty could even throw in a case of crownies as a sweetener.

Nah, bugger that, let's salivate on the idea of picking up Daniel Harrison.

If Grant is being shopped around we should pick him if we have the cash to spend!

I've never heard of this Daniel Harrison nuffy but news is slow getting over west

When Fit, he would be amazing for us.
Imagine the pack this weekend with him in the front row instead of Frizzell. WOW.

Both McKendry and Grant would be good for us.

One is a NZ International, one is a SOO rep. Both young, both good size and both what we need.

True.
Widdop, Dugan for example.

Widdop, yes I agree awesome signing. Dugan fell in our laps. That was more of a bonus in time of need. Our club had nothing and no one. So signing was a good timing. Also awesome signing. I was implying more on those players we have signed on 1 year contracts who are regarded as fringe players that we pick up for cheap and wasting our cap instead of just buying players who have what our team is lacking.

You can only sign what is available.
If there is no one available to sign you either use your cap to sign for depth or you lose it.

Whilst that is true, its also true that the availability of players being diminished, is based on the way our club approaches recruitment. Over the past few years we have been mentioned many a times re marquee signatures... always beaten to the punch.

Putting Gareth aside, and I agree he is quality.
Duges fell in our lap... Broncos rejected him after the offence.
Luv the guy, but that was his 2nd choice.

I posted elsewhere, ( my mind cant recall), when is the last time we secured ONE marquee prop? They have either been local boys, or fringe / second tier players. Some we have turned into great players ( Weyman at his peak ). Its just not in our policy to pay big bucks. That doesn't mean we are wrong, but it is evident anyway.

Now Im not saying Fifita / Kasiano are our saviours. No. But a smart high level signing in the forwards is well overdue.

Agree. Now that we need that 1 or 2 forwards we are lacking and with a list of forwards coming of contract, I'd like to see us being active and linked to players. False hope or not.

I agree with both the above posts. However the fact that we don't see it happening in an obvious manner doesn't mean that something isn't going on behind the scenes.
We don't know the inner workings.
Widdop is the classic case.
Believe me, I see the need for a prop or two.

Were definitely on the backfoot with recruitment though, Widdop is the 1 exception, we didnt see that one coming... the rest (including Bennett) have fallen into our laps or been 3rd choice discards (Even Thompson was the #3 choice at Canberra, as was Sam Williams).

There have been big name forward signings this last 2 years, we dont seem to be in the picture.. though to be fair with our current coach and track history you can understand why we would have difficulty.... the only attractor we have is the cheque book, and we have only done that once, throwing money at Duges, which tbh I was concerned at then, and still am now, big money, long 4yr contract, low motivation, injury-prone, it was a terribly done deal considering we took all the risk and still ended up paying top dollar based on at the time 3 big games by Dugan.

Edit: Serve me right for taking an hour to post.. you all said the same thing lol
