Panthers squad V Parramatta

So who was leaving Reese Robinson unmarked?

I wouldnt say unmarked. First try for Parra was a bit lucky imo. Panthers players appeared to stop as it looked like there may have knocked on from the blocked grubber. Full credit to eels though as they played to the whistle and used the numbers.

2nd was an intercept and 3rd was once again using numbers (much like most of our tries).

Unfortunately I thought the game was dictated by what seemed a very heavy penalty count. I hope that trend doesnt continue to the season, but suspect it may........

How were the jennings boys defensively?
George showed some good aggression in defence and good reads imo.
Robert came on later in the half and seemed ok, though not as much play went down his side to really tell.
Idris and chicko seemed to make the difference when they were on /off.

I also thought rcg played quite well and showed plenty of aggression against some big parra forwards

Clearly you didn't watch the game? They worked a try the rest off mistakes from us. They held possession well & got the result. If that's round 1. Idris stays on, Seg gets more game time. We don't play a forward pack underdone. It allowed a few guys to run out cobwebs. Play a few kids & try a few plays the latter we did well.

OK , I sat on the 25 meter line with my eyes shut for 80 mins.

Tele is saying Idris moved into the forwards during the game, so the move might be still once waqa is fit. Good to hear about the Jennings boys playing well. Not worried about the result but it sound like we looked sharp with ball which is good.

Seems that no injuries came out of the game for both sides.*relief*

Parra have a player on report for attacking the head of Moylan.

Darcy lussick was the high shot. He also had an icepack on his leg out the back of the stadium before half time.
He didn't look in too much distress though.

For us, I was pleased with our ball movement and thought our tries were well constructed rather than just capitalising on mistakes. The two jennings boys were impressive. George put on some good contact in defence and robert has a good leap.

Gees sika has trimmed alot of kg and looks better for it. Also jamal looks in better condition than last year.......cannot wait for the season to start :)[/QUOTE]

From SMH:"Despite the Eels losing Ryan Morgan to the sin bin for a professional foul in the second half, the match remained a 13-on-13 contest after Ivan Cleary agreed to allow Parramatta to field a full team."

We all have to remember to take trials in the true context that they are meant to be taken.

A training run and match fitness preparation.

Well did you miss us getting to 12-6 up & having Idris, Seg, Cartwright, Taylor & Brown all off? That's what happens with trials. Dropped balls killed us but we didn't miss that many tackles.

They were controlled in possession but aside from the last try didn't really trouble us and we had Smith & Jennings in the centres for a bit there.

So signs are good. We just need players to get fitness back & those errors will be gone from the game

Went to the game yesterday..thoughts?

Ok parra were actually pretty good.
Look like they are being coached to play a style of game that is suitable to their roster.
They were offside often and slowed down the ruck well.
Never gave us much space...They have some big grunting forwards as well.

Us ?
The good...
Moylan is class
ET played well doing a lot of work that goes unseen.
Whare was good.
Thought Mckendry and Latimore went ok at times.
Segs is super.
Wallace put in 100%

The bad..

Sowards moustache..and he never really ran the ball. But its understandable in a trial. His defence was good .
Jennings boys need more time but will be stars in the next couple of years. Then the roosters will buy them.
Kite...really showed his age.

Conclusion.

Looked like a game where many were happy for the run.
Handling was poor but signs of classy play were there as well.
Bryce needs to come off the bench this year, timing is the key with him.
Most of the forwards are ok but we need a big mean forward.
Sorry but Saunders is a good reserve grader.
Who played 8 in reserves? He looked very good.

Segs is the player who can create great plays for us.
We missed Mansour a lot.
Jamal should play centre and thats all.
Cleary needs to work out a basic game for us and let the class players shine when needed.

Might be a slow start but if our key players are injury free we will come home strong.

Why would you say that? Our kids are a year older and Watmough has brung (brang?) the toughness. We also got rid of Jarryd 'Poison' Hayne from the club.

You guys outplayed us on the edges but we smashed you in the middle, and as the last two premiers have shown us, the modern game is all about winning in the middle.

Nice pre season form 2 out of 2 loses just shows how much of a fluke last year was

Meanwhile broncos won a tough game in tough conditions in UK.

We used to do pretty well in pre season games under Elliot if I recall correctly. Means f**k all. Big time clubs like Penrith dont place any emphasis on trial results, its the minnows like Brisbane who try and use it like it means anything.
