Parra stadium surface to be reviewed for Manly game

PARRAMATTA Stadium officials are considering shifting Saturday night's NRL clash against Manly to another venue due to the ''unstable'' playing surface as the crisis engulfing the club deepens. Penrith lodged a complaint about the state of the ground after their win over the Eels on Friday, with coach Ivan Cleary intimating the surface might have contributed to a leg injury suffered by Nathan Smith.
Parramatta Stadium director Luke Coleman revealed next week's two curtain-raising fixtures, including the NYC match, would not go ahead at the ground. Contingency plans are being thrashed out should it be deemed unsafe for first grade. ''We're looking at an inspection of the ground by the NRL, the Eels and Manly early next week, probably on Monday, to establish whether the ground is up to standard,'' Coleman said.
