He'd make it I have no doubt, I mean look at some of the halves running around now.
Only problem is the WC next year pretty much rules him out.

We're dreaming here I think....

Can't see the ARU losing him but if he did come to league it would be a big victory, as it would hinge on money!!!

He's the best Wallabies 10 since Larkham, and on the verge of a World Cup, they will move heaven and earth to keep him.

I tend to agree, nothing more than paper talk.

Couldn't care less who goes to Union, been happening between the two codes for 100+ years.

I just don't like the ARU/RFU or AFL signing players to be poster boys in their propaganda wars.

If clubs want them so they'll add something, good for them, if the governing body does it just to cause pain, well that's another matter.

What the hell are you talking about? You have no idea.

Why do I have no idea what I'm talking about? I think it's more a case of you not understanding what I said.

Doesn't the rule say that the state you represent is wherever you played your first senior rugby league match? Well, if his first senior rugby league match was a trial (which it would be), and that trial was taken interstate (which some are), then he'd actually play his first senior rugby league game in that state and not NSW or QLD.

I'm sorry if this is too complex for you.

It's a RL Club not the NRL or ARL who may be doing the poaching.

Only for certain players. Shicofske and McLinden weren't courted by the ARU.

It comes down to the fact RU in Australia has a central contracting system. The most a province can offer a player is $150K (excl. 3rd party payments). If they want to give a player more they then have to convince the ARU that the player is worth it, hence what happened with Andrew Johns. The Waratahs wanted him badly but the ARU said no to a top-up payment (which ended up being a good decision in the end given his off-field behaviour at that time).

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this were a job at securing a higher top up on his contract the same way NRL player agents use the Roosters as a threat but the bloke has Rugby League written all over him he'd be a sensation it's a crime he is wasting his talent in Yawnion.

I'm hearing reports he is actually a good chance of signing with the Eels.
Personally though, I think it is bullsh*t; why would he come here when the World Cup is around the corner, and also when he can get so much more money in Rugby Union? Of course, the Eels have the most salary cap space to fit him, so if he is coming to Rugby League it is more than likely to the highest bidder; which is the Eels.

Very rare chance of it happening though....if it does it would be the sports story of the century.

No way even on a sh*tty ARU contract + Club contract he'd on $400-$500k a minimum most likely $500k seriously if the Eels spend the $500k-$600k necessary to lure him here then LOL @ them, what are they paying Mortimer ATM $175-$200k a season, isnt one deadwood at the club enough.

I reckon Souths are a good chance of getting him. Need rusty to get in his ear, should be able to reel him in so Sutto moves to lock

It's not that complex mate, you just don't seem to grasp the simple fact that it is WHO you represent when you play your first senior rugby league game, not where that game is being played. So even if you were to play your first game on the moon for Parra, it would not then qualify you to be eligible to play for Moonians. Which is as ridiculous an idea as your said logical train of thought.

Going off memory here, so someone let me know if I'm wrong.

Wasn't there a big Reds game after one of the SOO matches (game 2) where there was a lot of media before hand and Cooper gave an interview in which he talked up the SOO and said stuff along the lines of there was a lot to learn from the QLD team in regards to passion and effort and he was hoping his team and himself could replicate the QLD performance?

I'm pretty sure I'm right because I remember thinking to myself this guy seems to talk of league with a bit of envy and that maybe he wants Lockyers jumper.
