If that's true, it's a pretty brave move by a fledgling coach.

Ever seen the southpark episode where the students were asked to vote between a turd sandwich and a douche bag?

The fledgling coach doesn't have much of a choice does he?

I think the choice is helped considerably though with the addition of Hopoate, Norman and Peats. Certainly helps a lot more than Keating, Roberts and Mullaney.

I just think sandow adds a little more than kelly

I think you are right. Mind you with running players like Norman and Hayne it can help to have someone just shovel the ball out. I am still wondering whether or not Sandow plays in the 14 jersey. Kelly slots in at hooker and Hayne to 5/8. Easier to hide a defensive freak like Sandow at fullback.

I think we need to run with 4 forwards off the bench and hope that peats doesn't go down, we have a talented but inexperienced backrow that won't be able play 80 minutes at this stage...

It's possible. Peats also being able to play lock helps.

Yeah, probably not. But the turd sandwich is on a fair bit more money than the douche bag, and there are expectations that he has his head together now and will improve on his performances of the last two years.
To watch Sandow in the nines, he did a few good things - some nice runs, good passes - but half the time he just stood there like a startled rabbit. I just don't know about him, I really don't.

I hope Paulo gets the halfback spot over Kelly and Sandow. He has more consistency than Sandow and has more flair than Kelly and if we're looking for a player just to shovel the ball to Norman, and Hayne then Paulo is your player. He can do that, Kelly takes the ball away from our best players and makes stupid decisions. Sandow takes correct decisions but his execution is what lacks.

As I said, (half-jokingly) in another thread, Jeff Robson would be good right now.

All we need is a Jeff Robson type of halfback. I think Norman is potentially a very good player but is a little overrated by some here. I cannot wait to see the back of Sandow. I was very excited when we signed him but he has been a disaster and he hasn't the mental fortitude to fight back. For our sake, I sincerely hope I'm wrong and I hope he succeeds but I think it will all end in tears.

I suspect one reason that Arfurs may favour Kelly initially at least, is that he's probably easier to build a game plan around where you've got a new coach and several new players. Just takes one variable out of the game in the early on in the season.

Hmmmm, the coaches choice - the under-performing, overpaid player who has shown nothing for at least 2 1/2 years and nothing for his current Club, or the guy that you had Captain your Under 20s team that you took to a Premiership...

I'd be surprised if Sandow is at Parra post 30 June.

I think Sandow can add alot, just not as a starting 7... For mine I actually think he is worth sticking on the bench as our 14. We do not really have a genuione back-up dummy half so we have very little to lose by sticking him on the bench and finding a role for him

Both coaches won't last the season, price probably gone in first 10 weeks.

Our current coach lost a vote of our current board to be appointed to the job a week before he was appointed coach. If he doesnt perform, the divided board who appointed him will be just as divided when they come to sacking him. It will only take one board member to change his mind and the vote will go the other way.

I wish Brad Arthur all the best and hope he is sensational, but I am also realistic to know that if we get smashed in the first 6 weeks I think Arthur is a sure bet to be punted after that.

That'll do me if Joseph Paulo gets the 7 ahead of Kelly or Sandow. Or for that matter ahead of Liam Foran, Ben Jones, Toby Evans or Zach Docker-Clay

I'm struggling to imagine what our kicking game will look like with Norman and Kelly, particularly our long kicking game. Neither of them has much of a boot on them.

Sandow gets the gig based on this alone for me.

He can kick long, and very accurately.

Regardless of whether Arthur goes for Sandow or Kelly, if either gets off to a bad start, how many weeks of underperforming do you think they get before one is swapped for the other?
