Regardless of whether Arthur goes for Sandow or Kelly, if either gets off to a bad start, how many weeks of underperforming do you think they get before one is swapped for the other?

I think Kelly has probably got a month. I think the 'elephant in the room' is what if Norman is ordinary also? I'm expecting his defence to be very ordinary

Kelly gets nod-100% why? cause im always right.

I reckon everyone is worrying for nothing, we will be fine. Its a trial ffs.AND OUR SPINE IS NEW.

Halfback continues to be a problem but with HAYNE and J.Paulo not as big an issue.
Don't rule out Hayne and Norman as our Halves so quickly. This Backline would be our best defensive wise and attack wise IMO.J.paulo comes on to add extra spark. And fixes the morgan/tonga/hoppa problem
1Hoppa
2Radradra/hunt/falou
3Morgan
4Tonga
5Sio
6Hayne
7Norman

Yea 4-5 weeks seems reasonable. Geeze if our 6 and 7 are under performing it will be 2010-2013 all over again

Agree. If our halves are a problem I think a Hayne/Norman combo is our only way to go.

I hope Paulo gets the halfback spot over Kelly and Sandow. He has more consistency than Sandow and has more flair than Kelly and if we're looking for a player just to shovel the ball to Norman, and Hayne then Paulo is your player. He can do that, Kelly takes the ball away from our best players and makes stupid decisions. Sandow takes correct decisions but his execution is what lacks.

Except Paulo runs about 25 metres sideways before he shovels the ball away... and usually to a player with no space. He stifles our attack rather than adding to it. Add to that he doesn't have a kicking game. Paulo would be a terrible option in the number 7.

I agree maybe Kelly is the answer if all he does is have to pass and kick. Rely on Hayne, Norman, and Hoppa to do the creative stuff. The role of a Robson style halfback could work, as we have the talent in the backline to score points. I hope Sandow comes good but I don't have much faith in him really after the past 2 years. He looked rather lost in the 9s at times coming to a dead stop with the ball in the hand. I don't think Kelly is a long term answer but perhaps he'll suit the team better.

And that was on the second day when all our players were buggered and standing around flat footed not giving him any options.

I'm struggling to imagine what our kicking game will look like with Norman and Kelly, particularly our long kicking game. Neither of them has much of a boot on them.

Sandow gets the gig based on this alone for me.

He can kick long, and very accurately.

Hayne can kick long. He might not be the most tactical kicker, but he has massive boot and can certainly kick us out of trouble in our own half.

That's because we have a lot of lazy, unconfident players not running in support. This is also why our halves look bad.

Yeah but how are players supposed to run in support when Paulo is running behind the play a lot of the time. You are right though, having bodies in motion and players running the right lines in both support play and decoys has been a huge problem since 2011.

I think what we need to do first in get defense going.
Pick our best defensive side.Thats why Morgan should be there somewhere. If we can keep teams to 20 points a game we have enough strike to win without sandow or Kelly.
But the way it is looking Kelly will be our halfback. The more I think about it the more it makes sense. Why? cause Hayne will get to play make more in attacking zone. When Sandow plays he calls more of the shots which means Hayne gets less ball.
Sandow IMO is the better player but at parra where Hayne is basically another half Kelly just needs to get his kicking game going.Which ive seen him do at times.
So the issue is SANDOW.4 yrs and our worse signing. And we still have no halfback.
Norman isn't proven but could be good, but realy we are hoping. He could also end up as a bad signing or should I say a desperation one.

Hindy, all good comments but to use Kelly and kicking game in the same sentence is a big call, he doesn't have one!

I tend to agree with most that if Sef Paulo is in the team, wtf, cramps the whole team and misses tackles.

I trust BA to be here for a couple of years to get things rolling, and I want it so bad to start this year as I am getting on :)

I will give Kelly one more chance to prove himself as I will Sandow.
Lets not think Norman will work either.Brisbane rarely let a good one go, and he was playing qld cup. We may see Sandow/Kelly combo . Normans kicking game is ordinary too. And as much as we hope he becomes the next Lockyer well he may end up the next parra flop.He isn't first grade proven as of yet.And hasn't played 5/8 for a while

And one of the players who doesn't do anywhere near as much movement off the ball as the elite fullbacks is Jarryd Hayne.

With ball in hand he is the equal of the best fullbacks in the game, in fact I'd say he's the best. Likewise in defence.

But a fullback needs to be busy to create space for himself and for his other playmakers.

Lost in the 9s? He was one of our best.
The whole stop dead thing is a trap for opposition defence and is a play that is very common in touch football, a format that while playing 9s having a touch football skill set suits.
