it may have already been discusses, but i haven't had time to read all the threads of late ... but can someone summarise what goes on at an AGM? .... who talks, what exactly is the voting process (like does everyone vote for X amount of ppl or what?), do they serve good beer

I reckon we should plan to head out for lunch after the meeting in the afternoon somewhere - new people and peeps that already know each other, put faces to names etc?

I like that idea Bart.
Organise to meet up in Sterlo's after the meeting... then people can have their 2 free drinks as well.

I'm just going to have to rearrange plans I had on for Sunday lunch..... I should be able to work around it though... I hope!

I don't think anyone knows Strider, the club can't even get their membership list right

My understanding from AGMs of other things I've been part of is that the agenda will be something like this:

1. Welcome
2. President's Report
3. Treausrer's Report
4. Other Necessary Reports
(all probably just read from Annual Report, usually with time for questions, and all needing to be passed as motions).
5. Declare current Director positions vacant
6. Hold Elections
7. Announce new Directors
8. Continue meeting, General Business
(time for general questions etc from the floor here).
9. Close meeting.

Am not sure whether they let candidates speak before the vote - with so many I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. And I'd expect the act of voting and counting could take a while, so that will stretch the time of the meeting, compared to previous ones where no-one else was standing for election. So there'll probably be a good 30 min break in the middle while that all happens.

They also have Life Member's and footy awards - like tackler of the year and most tries etc

Yeah sounds cool. Sterlos it is - and all new members who might want to put some names to faces welcome :D.

I reckon this one will be a long meeting Hells, the voting and counting of votes will probably add an hour to the usual meeting length I reckon. So any Sunday lunch plans for anyone planning to attend will probably be out the window

Mmmmm late lunch, but still a normal meeting goes for about 2hrs... so even if it is 1-1.30pm thats not too bad for a few drinks then some quick lunch in the Cafe88

I recall reports here of previous meetings mentioning the giving out of awards... we could be in for a long one all told!

I can't remember that one Stagger.
I know Hindy always gets the tackling one, Burty often gets most points and usually Jarryd or Luke get most tries etc etc.
Plus the players that have served 10 yrs... I remember Caylo's dad accepting his and Hindy's one year as the boys were both away, I think Caylo was on his honeymoon or something

We might need to bring in hip flasks to survive...

I've been to 3 of these already but this one's going to be more unique than ever, we're going to experiance the following..

* Standing room only
* Churcillian speech's by the clubs greats
* A count of the votes that will last longer than a show of hands.
* media waiting in the foyer of the leagues club.
* The media going longer than the standard 2 hours, much longer infact.
* Passion and emotion speeling from the members in the auditorium.

someones going to be a good ole fashion hum dinger.

I just want to know when you are expecting those? Pre-Vote?

So this is how the meeting will run.

1) Apologies
2) Minutes of the 2007 Annual General Meeting
3) Correspondence
4) Election of Directors (Which will be via ballot with the Ballots collected and tallied and the result will be announced during the rest of the meeting)
5) Annual Report
6) Financial report
7) Election of Life Members (Which will most probably be a show of ballots)
8) Notice(s) of Motions
9) Presentation of Awards
10) General Business

Do we know who counts the votes? I don't trust that they will be counted correctly! DF certainly does not seem trustworthy to me!

there is a process, there will be impartial scrutineers and what not... rest assured that at least that part will be done correctly!
