Well, guess they are second for a reason, and the Riff jumped all, over the Raiders yesterday until they couldn't be bothered, hopefully the Cowboys put their cue in the rack too

Penrith managed to win it.. Just missed out on the 8 the year after and then are top this year.
I understand with players and ages under 20's is a lottery(look at saints last year and knights) but Brisbane and Penrith seem to be killing the junior system.

People have expressed concerns about French's size, so with that in mind, according to their official profiles:

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck

182cm
93kg

Bevan French

181cm
89kg

All he needs is some bulk.

Billy Slater is 88kg 178cm. If you're good enough, you're big enough!

Thank goodness we did not get beat against the Cowboys in NYC for the score that a good side in the Raiders did today, 78-12

Posters would have had palpitations and club in crisis talks :), and talk that the current staff have NFI

He's a world away from RTS physically, in experience, and although it's still debatable, probably In talent as well.

Tom trjbojevic is a bloke who is properly knocking on the door. Recording stats like 300 running metres and huge possessions.

People who think French is anywhere near first grade are buying in to the complete blind optimism around us being unable to sign a proper fullback.

French is still only 17, isn't he?
Bit early to be making any assumptions one way or the other.
What can be said though is his development so far is coming along pretty well.
He basically went from SG Ball straight to reserve grade. How many other players do that?

French is a playmaking fullback. He will take longer to mature than power backs like RTS and Trbojevic. He might play a couple of games of first grade next year but it will be 2017 at the earliest that we will be able to rely on him for 20+ games. More likely the year after though - French is still eligible for under 20s next year.

Calm your tits - my only point was he's not far off RTS's size.

Already turned 19 this year, still eligible for the 20's next year though. Still have to remember he's only been associated with an NRL franchise since the start of last year.

Agreed. I love watching French play. The most important part is that he, for the most of it, has the defensive side of fullback down. So he really only needs to work on his attack which comes naturally to most players anyway.
