30-4 with 14 minutes of this misery to go.

Can't believe I came early for this, what was I thinking?

Not sure if it's been reported but French appears to have suffered a serious elbow or arm injury

Well we just witnessed one of the most embarrassing moments on a footy field and the Panthers scored!

I would think if there was a top 100 embarrassing moments since 1908 we would have at least 60 in there. We know how to f**k up and give the opposition a try in all grades.

36-4.

6-4 to the Panthers at half time. We have dropped a few important balls that probably would have led to tries.

French made a beautiful break just before half time but looks to have been injured. He walked off the field with maybe a dislocated shoulder and he was signalling that he was gone. Don't think we'll see him for a while by the looks of it.

He needs a lot more muscle. Not just for getting stronger, but to protect his joints.

Losing French was a blow, but starting the second half without first choice props really was the problem. The Riff marched up the middle at will, that coupled with really poor defensive reads saw the game turn into a rout

The usual suspects were decent Twal, Amone and Fuiamano, the rest really struggled when asked to do more

I worry about guys who cant hold up physically in under 20's....

As far as getting beat its not a big deal. Id rather have 2-3 great players and 14 ordinary ones in the team rather then 17 very good players who will win you game but not make first grade.

Penrith seem to have awesome talent in the Jnrs- A lot are coming into first grade but a lot are over rated also.

That's what we want. Twal - Fuiamano are first graders in the making and rather see them develop then win a under 20's title.

It would be nice to see Bevan + Dargan play well and it has been a while since a good back has come thru the ranks...... Not counting Semi I can not think of a gun centre or wing come thru our junior system in years.
Even if we count Hayne who was a fullback that was 10 yrs ago!!

We tend to overrate our junior backs, as soon as we see someone do a bit of flashy stuff.

But we undervalue the key skills of the game that will cary someone into a first grade career - defensive technique, defensive know how, ability to read a game, and overall conditioning (the need to develop protective muscle as Pou metioned).

But instead we're all "yay, that 15yo is going to be a star debuntante in 6 years" and then get upset when hardly any of them make it through. Decent forwards with potential to develop skills later have much more chance of stepping up the grade, than a youthfully skilful but willowy/fragile back.

Even Semi didn't stand out in under 20s. Admittedly it was his first year of rugby league. But it wasn't until the next year in NSW Cup that he started scoring 90 metre tries from dummy half every week.
