The Roosters must have the best Academy. They're killing it.
Well they did have Brian Smith and O'sullivan working together for a few years, say what you like about Smithy as a coach there is no better bloke to put systems in place for long term success. You just don't want him coaching when that team is ready

I reckon they do. Look at the calibre of blokes they brought in to set it up.

We had to settle for Kearney and Nolan but they seem to have done a decent job.

It's a telling sign that we have 'academy' players being brought in to the NRL team ahead of backups like Harrison and Nathan Smith - two blokes who played first grade last year. Or Edwards and Ma'afu; two blokes who didn't.

Yeah sorry you're right it's on at 3pm. NSW Cup is on at 1pm but we're not playing.

Don't know how they schedule nsw cup - but we played the cutters last at win as a stand alone game - surely it would have made sense to play it this week.

Some changes for our squad today...

Eric Aukafolau (?) wearing jersey 19 is in for John Folau in the centres
Sam Gorman replaces Luke Vescio as starting hooker, pushing Vescio to the bench
Sean Jackson comes into the starting backrow, pushing Diamond Charlie to the bench

After a quick google search for Aukafolau it looks like he is a Rugby 7's squad mate of Tepai Moeroa. He was part of the Youth Olympics team.

And we have our kickoff.

St George will be receiving, running left-to-right on the TV screen.

They make a solid start to the game, rolling up to the 50m line before punching a kick down the sideline that forces Brasington to play at it at the last moment.

Parramatta reply with a very strong run and offload by Pauli Pauli. They complete their first set of the match with a kick down their right edge.

St George spill their attacking bomb on their final tackle, giving possession to Parramatta on their 20m line.

Alvaro pokes his head through half a gap but has no support. Brasington puts up a bomb and a solid kick chase pins the Dragons fullback on his 10m line

A correction to the line up, Clay is playing hooker and Gorman is in the halves.

Ualesi gets a nice offload away but a clever piece of play sees a Dragons defender (Collins) steal the ball one-on-one from the Parramatta support player.

The Dragons go on the attack down our left edge and NSW U/20's rep Garvey puts Taylor Brown through a gap from dummy half on our line and he scores under the black dot.

Conversion is successful by Hastings

St George lead Parramatta 6-0, 7min gone.

St George effect a solid set after points but get a little bit lost on the last. One of their forwards ends up hoisting a bomb which Brasington calmly defuses and then beats two chasers to make a few metres.

Parramatta drive it to 25m out from the Dragon's line before putting up a terrible chip/bomb that drifts in goals and it simply taken by St George for a 20m restart.

Brasington makes good use of his long legs to place one foot in goals to earn a 20m restart.

Daoud puts up what seems to be another ineffective kick but a moment of madness from the fullback Hastings looks to have given Parramatta their first try.

A desperate kick chase by Sam Gorman has knocked the ball loose and Sean Jackson scoops up the pill to score a very simple try.

Brasington adds the extras.

The game is locked up at 6-all, 13min gone.

There was nearly another moment of madness from the Dragons there!

Pauli Pauli helps drive Parramatta to a strong set and he is backed up by Brasington who utilises his huge boot to drive the ball to just in front on the in goal post. The Dragons winger plays at it just after it rolls out ...nearly gifting possession to the Eels.

Parramatta challenge the decision but the review confirms the referees decision and the Dragons maintain the scrum feed.

After the scrum restart, Parramtta concede the first penalty of the match putting St George on the attack,

Parramatta are sliding too much, too early on their line.

St George squander an attacking raid as they place a cross field kick that ends up running into touch. It was looking somewhat dangerous there but the kick was too shallow and the bounce was kind to the Eels.

Parramatta earn a ruck penalty early in their set to reverse the situation and go on the attack themselves.

Ualesi goes close! He got his arm free but had no support.

Alvaro shows some intelligence there, he receives a short ball from dummy half on the last but realises that it is the last tackle. He hurls himself at the line and gets an outstanding offload away to Dockar-Clay who dives over under the posts.

Brasinton nails the easy conversion.

Parramatta lead 12-6, 19min gone

From the restart, Dockar-Clay spills the ball and the Dragons spread the ball down our right-edge on the next play and Hastings crosses untouched.
