I just wonder if this is the same as what happened to Dave Fairleigh. Oh don't get me wrong I am happy to see him gone, but when Dave was here, he had a policy of putting up young up and coming kids from SG Ball, some as young as 17 into the 20's.

I guess we will see how this goes, but having said that our 20's (Jersey Flegg) Started suffering in 2007 and only really had one good year 2008 where we have made the finals since. The form of the NYC side has been poor for more than one coaches tenure at the club.

Depends what you define a poor year as and the coaches expectation for the side. If you want the side in the finals yeah not making the finals is a poor year. But if you blood several 17/18 olds but fail to make the finals however these youngsters go on to make the nrl side then the year could be considered successful. All depends on the expectation of what the coach wants from the side.

The coaching staff have not been able to pick there best side nearly all year, performance this year has been hampered by the 5 that got promoted to premier league , which is good but it just exposed that we have poor depth in players to step up to 20s.

Oe of the issues that has been exposed is the lack of size , p[articularly in the few outside recruots.

The Sharks big guys, granted they were older, were 6'3''/6'4''. where our bigger guys are about 6'0', that has been telling in a quite a few games when the niggle and tough stuff starts. Some really good kids, but the level of outside recruiting etc has not covered this issue. ie the Dogs got Kasiano from Qld, we took O'Hanlon, more skills but less size (thanks rocket)

Mits, MAtt C had overseeing responsibilities to the NYC as well duties in skills coaching or whatever to bring them through.

We have had very poor results from that area for a while, good to see change

Not saying he didn't nor am I saying a change was not needed.

But also, Matt C was the only NYC coach to get our side to the finals.

You take the 5 best players out of any side they are going to struggle. 1 or 2 you can cover for 5 is a little harsh.

Clicky

This is the first time that the club has indicated which players are being replaced, which is kind of odd.

Anyway, the biggest news is that Zac Clay gets his first NYC cap at halfback. He gets his own wrap in this weeks Buzz's Briefs. Trent Jennings at 5/8 is odd and Young Folau and Hopoate are also back in the team.

I like that line up, a great deal more than I have in the rescent Past.

Not sure on the Halves, but we will see. I have seen Trent Jennings play before just not sure I have seen him at 5/8th.

Good to see Azar get a run, love his don't back down attitude, he just has to get his hits right and he will be a great enforcer.

Trent jennings to 5/8 is a result of footage viewed by staff from 2009 when he played SG BALL for Western academy against penrith @ 5/8 he controled the game and led the side to a 34-6 win where he played over one Harry Sieker, should prove intersting,he was put to 5/8 for the last 8 mins against the sharks when Wehbe was replaced and put Pepa into space supported on the inside to score, size wise he could prove a handful at the 6 and he can tackle.I hope him and gagan are together as they were good at Westfields sports when he was 6 and gagan at 1.

Hey ITW, can you fill me in on the reasoning behind Kaysa Pritchard at lock? I understand that he is a good prospect but you would think it isn't helping our pack by being one big body short of the opposition.

I believe its because he plays with plenty of energy but i agree i would like a bigger body in the middle , particularly in the early parts of the 1/2 s. I believe he is a 9 , play him off the bench. I just wish the club would have let them put there best side on the park and let them have a crack at winning the nyc,to many young ones that clearly are not up to 20s standard.
