The key is now developing some of these kids into first graders.

We have won a shitload of Ball and Matts trophies over the years but its got us nowhere.

Only need 2 or 3 to come through and it helps massively.

We won't be like Penrith they have a factory coming through. But certainly having our own sprinkle coming through all the time helps trying to have sustained success.

It is our fault that we aren’t a club that players are willing to stay at for less money than those crap clubs can offer. That is on the culture.

That depends on the player. You'll notice we do keep some merkins we want to keep. I'd say the difference between them and the ones we lose is motivation.

Worth noting though that after winning everything last year The Smugs didnt make either the HM or Ball GFs. Maybe its turning.

Exactly. Add to that kids don’t want to give up their weekends for sport any more (preferring gaming). There are a lot of good reasons to make high school ball the focus. Make the season 10 games long and cut HM and Sg ball (which have a roll to play) down to a knockout or a 3 game season.

I'm unsure why ch 9 doesn't televise sg ball and promote it as a mid week game.
Finals bare minimum should be televised.
