Parramatta Eels Juniors

Bulldogs hold on 22-18 at fulltime. Well played to the dogs and good luck to them through the rest of the finals. Tough finish for the flegg boys but congrats on a good year. Been a pretty disruptive year for the squad with injuries and players getting promoted but I think as a whole the team played very well especially some of the less heralded player like Sapienza, Cronin, Clifford, Okladnikov, Afu, McGregor, Carling and Faulkner who really have been unsung heroes. Will be interesting to see how the squad shapes up next but I'm sure it will be strong again. Ultimately 2018 will recognised for the blooding of a lot of great talent that will translate into first grade in the coming years.

Because even though I haven't seen him play I am pretty certain he isn't going to make it as a half and also we need a dummy half more than we need a half.

Parra needs to become a club that buys halves off the shelf.

How has that worked out for us?

It will be interesting to see if the eels are made to pick players that only play in the Parramatta comp not ones recruited from other areas. I think they should.

In the current Daley/ Johns comps it’s just based on players playing in the relevant country regions, not players recruited from outside that region.

Like those mid coast players eels have contracted, if they don’t play (any games at all) in the ball/Matthews sides, they really should be playing their relevant country group rep side.

Not against the eels involvement but a club like the eels have a shit load more resources then the country groups.

Perhaps we will have a team of just Parra juniors for the Country and then players from other areas play in the Metro comp.

Next year may possibly be a bit of a transition year for the 20's. We'll have a fair few forwards that will be too old and our backline you'd have to think will be completely different from today with most playing in ISP next year.

How old is Origin Kaufusi? I thought he was in his 30s.
19yo. Kaufusi will be an interesting one.. Will he play for junior Kiwi or not.?
Kaufusi has been part of Nsw origin junior squads and if he plays for Nz any opportunity to play for Aus or Nsw at any level will be gone.. So the poor kid has a very hard decision..

Who will make NRL squad next year in your opinion? Our will the club sit on their hands and let other clubs cherry pick the best?

10 is Sean Keppie who is off to manly. 12 is Salesi Fainga'a who will be doing an NRL pre-season with us.

Who do you rate as better Keppie or Kaufusi (who is a year younger)?

Has Utoikamanu being going better then Keppie?

Wonder if Keppie may have played NSW cup if he hadn’t signed with manly.

Stefano will overtake both of them next year. Keppie would have definitely played NSW cup if he had signed with us. He now wants to stay but Manly wont let him out of the contract which is fair enough I guess

Keppie has the better work-rate, Kaufusi has better leg drive outside of that I feel like they're fairly similar although it's hard to say with Kep as he's only ever played 20's. I'd say that Kaufusi is slightly better at this stage. Last year we probably had the chance to promote Keppie but we didn't whereas when given the chance to promote Kaufusi we did right away all the way to first grade.

Utoikamanu is a different prospect to Keppie. Much better attacking player and a threat to score when inside the opposition 15. Stefano isn't a bad defender by any means but probably won't be able to produce the minutes Keppie can. It'll be interesting to see how he plays after an NRL pre-season.

I reckon he would have. And whilst it is disappointing that Kep won't be with us next year I feel like we have someone similar to him in Sam Hughes who made his Flegg debut in Round 25. Similar height to Keppie, similar body shape, high work-rate, mobile in defence and only 17 this year.
