Parramatta Eels preparing $2.1 million raid for Penrith Panthers forward Luke Lewis

Pretty sure Lewis wouldn't be reading the forums to see the whinging and insecure posts fans make when he's making his decision about what club to go to...

I played for the Eels just last year, and that's why I left....oh sorry that was my cousin Billy O'Speedwagon. Carvin it up in Gympie.

OMFG, he wants to win a premiership, will he do that here? Probably not. He was never a chance of coming.

It was Gould who said that not Lewis himself. There's obviously a lot more to the story but Lewis would have to keep his mouth shut in order to get the release. But it's not real surprising players don't want to come here given what a basket we are at the moment. Even Penrith have managed to attract a few decent signings.

I don't see how it could be deemed a breach if you're just offering them a job post their football career. I doubt the NRL could demand to see any such contract.

Tigers could have a too many cooks (playmakers) situation next year. Benji, Farah and Braith, as well as Sironen if he keeps going. Lewis would be a bit wasted there, wouldn't he? I know Lewis isn't a worldbeating playmaker, but he definitely offers more than the average backrower.

i think because it is used to entice the player to the club. it needs to be looked at as would the same post-playing job offer be made if the player was playing elsewhere? similar to most third party payments.

Yeah I just don't see how the NRL could police it though. There's nothing stopping the club from just making a handshake agreement with Lewis that they'll offer him a career post football.

To be honest he'd be a bit of a waste at both the Tigers and Sharks.

Both clubs are very well covered in the back row so I hope they aren't wasting too much cap space on him.

Having said that, they'd only have to offer him half as much as us to get him, this is the sad part.

Why the Sharks are after him I don't know...they have Gallen, J Smith, Graham, Tupou, Bukuya, Tagatese & Frizell already.

The tigers are going to have a forward pack of:

Lewis, Anasta, Blair, Heighnington and Fulton in the back row and
Woods, Farah and Galloway up front

Compare that to what kearney has gathered for next year and we are f**ked!

If that's our pack for next year we have far and away the worst backrow in the entire comp. That's not something to be proud of.
