Until Fitzgerald ends his association with the club there is always going to be nasty politics around the Parramatta Eels. Until then there will always be deliberate media campaigns to undermine the club, and we'll struggle to have success.

How f**king depressing.

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels have today dismissed a newspaper report today relating to the Club’s negotiations with off contract Penrith Panthers back-rower Luke Lewis.
Eels CEO Bob Bentley confirmed the Eels’ interest in the NSW Origin star but said at no stage has remuneration been discussed.
“We loathe buying into this sort of stuff at the best of times but we just wanted our Members and fans to know exactly what’s going on here,” Bentley said.
“At no stage has any amount of money been discussed and unsourced and unattributed reports claiming otherwise, like the report in today’s paper, are simply untrue.
“This type of unsubstantiated report is extremely unfair on our current playing group and Luke himself.
“We, like a number of other NRL Clubs, are in the early stages of engaging Luke’s management and that’s the extent of it.”
“We do not make any comment of ongoing negotiations with players, whether it is Luke Lewis or any other player.”

The thing is we shouldn't have to f**king deny rumours. The media needs to have some brakes put on it, since their main purpose these days is to discredit one party or another for profit.

i dont know why anyone believes these reported salary figures no player or club in the middle of negotiations is going to leak a figure and risk blowing the deal so its just a number the media have pulled out of their arse

correct

if the media had any idea what players were on then they would have known The Dogs and Storm had been rorting the cap

What association is that? For over three years now he's had no association with the club greater than that of you or I (that's assuming that you've followed through and become a member?).

People seem to jump at shadows whenever Fitzy's name is mentioned.

He doesn't need 'greater association' - he is far more influential than other members like yourself. The fact is when he says something stupid it's followed up by the media. When you say something stupid it's usually followed up by "Click the link in my sig."

(that's assuming that you've followed through and become a member?).

I am an ex-member and will remain so.

He is still an extremely poisonous influence amongst the members. That's unlikely to ever change.

You didn't answer the question - so what is this 'association' you think he should end?

He doesn't have influence over this member. Some people do jump at shadows after over three years, and the sooner more Members (and members of the Board) and the media stop jumping at his shadow, then sooner everyone came move (further) on.

I believe everything I read in the paper. No wonder the Eels have such a terrible attitude, apparently Sandow gets paid more money a season than Lebron James does.

Got to love the press saying , Eels are down the bottom, why would anyone sign for them , they need to pay up for players. When Many started that about 6 years ago, Bulldogs about 4 yrs ago and Souths perennially, it was seen as a good move to become competitive and no criticism

The media is such a b*#ch and lovefest for the Dogs

The Bulldogs actually managed to attract a bunch of very good players though.

LOL, very hard to troll when you're from the Shire.

Not an attempt at trolling.

Seriously, Cronulla's best years where we have just assembled a good team without 'marquee signings' that we have paid overs for...

Tupou and Nigel Vagana were the most recent ones...

Parramatta should focus on having players have pride in the jersey and not there simply for an overbloated pay cheque.

Think about how much of the cap Lewis, Sandow, Hopoate, Tonga, and Hayne take up...

Mate have you thought of who is coming in 2014? Will hoppa. Who is a fullback/centre. On good money. Is it a coincidence we get him when hayne goes off contract? Honestly I'm not sure if Haynes heart is all there. Yes he's a great player but we will get by if he leaves. He's apparently already in contract extension talks but I wouldn't be surprised if he left

My point is when you are paying overs for players, it isn't going to bring any sort of success...

Even if you lose Hayne, how much of the cap is Sandow, Lewis, Hoppa, and Tonga all taking up?

Sources close to the club have exclusively revealed that the 4 players above will receive a combined 14.8 Million dollars to lace a boot in 2014.

I don't care what you paid for him, and he carries a fair bit of risk, but you don't get much more marquee than the bloke who won the Dally M the year before last.
