I guess I'm the only one who doesn't know what's happening behind the scenes at the club.

Unlike the rest of you I can only see what the players are doing on the field, so they're the only ones I'll judge. To me they look either inexperienced or physically past it. But obviously you guys know it's just that they're poorly coached.

Maybe I should move back to Sydney and attend more training sessions. Then I'd know as much as you guys.[/QUOTE]

You shouldn't be I'm not a violent man just a little impatient. I used to live in South Perth. Freo is nice. Did you move re: work ?

Why does anyone move to Perth?

And I was at the zoo in South Perth on Wednesday. Nice part of town.

At this rate the 5 year plan will bring us back to where we were at the end of 2010... And will be deemed a success too.

The end of 2010 where we had absolutely no depth and a handful of nuffies on inflated contracts?

You reckon the players aren't on inflated contracts now?

I don't reckon any of the players signed or re-signed since last year are, which leaves only the guys coming off contract this year and maybe Horo as the remaining overpaid players. Hayne is worth whatever he's on.

If the reported figures for Hopoate's contract are true then he probably will be overpaid, but since the club took steps to refute the reported offer to Luke Lewis, I'd say the media are making a lot of shit up about our contract negotiations because we're doing a good job of keeping it close hold.

Mortimer and Shackleton were moved on early which all but proves they were on too much. Ant Mitchell might be a similar case.

I also thought Ben Roberts might be overpaid but emjaycee reassured us that Roberts is on a contract befitting a NSW Cup player. It makes sense that he would have come here for opportunity, not money.

Overall, it's a fact that everybody has a price. If we were throwing massive contracts at every player we had targeted this year we would surely have signed more of them, as is the case with the Titans last year. This leads me to believe we are offering no more than the staff think the player is worth. And rightly so.

Brian Smith is the best club-builder in the game and he never signed big stars until 2005 when he had a lot of room under the salary cap. Just like Bellamy, his focus was always on the juniors and depth players. The stars will emerge from that.

Ah yes, the Hagan/Stuart model of club-building.

At least they won premierships off the back of another coach's hard work.

I spose if Kearney gets sacked next week and we win a premiership with a different coach in 3 years time it will be all because of Kearney.

Not after 3 years... but if he's sacked & this team he's assembling for next year goes alright will you be man enough to give him the kudos for that?

the fact he was able to assemble a team good enough to win or the fact he just wasn't good enough to coach them to win?

Kearney would deserve the credit for the new coach taking over a well-structured club, but after three years you'd have to say the new coach is mostly responsible for his team's results.

When you look at the excellent first season results of failed NRL coaches like Hagan, Stuart, Taylor and Anderson, and the poor first season results of proven NRL coaches like Bennett and Cleary, you have to accept that a coach can't be judged on his team's early results.

Exaclty how long it takes until his team's results reflect the coach's efforts is a function of the coach's ability, and the state the club was in when he took over.

Frankly, I think it would go further to proving his incompetence as a first grade coach, in particular a lack man management skills and tactical nous, if another coach were to walk straight in and get a lot better out of this mob.

Someone would think SK has paid them from his own pocket to come and play here.

To this day SK has taken a gamble on key positions and it's yet to come off. Deserves nothing.

How about the coaching or how the team is playing???

Honestly, I think the team is playing their best. There's no magic bullet, whether tactics or motivation, that will get rookies to play smarter, or weaker/slower players to compete physically.
