Parramatta Eels sign Josh Papalii for 2014

Why let Pappali worry you? I mean, if the clubs/players were reversed most people here wouldn't have a problem with it. It's not as if he roasts puppies in his spare time or anything.

I don't think he's the sharpest bloke. In one quote he said he'd read all the rules before signing the contract, then goes on to say it was after signing the contract he found out about the rule and went back to Canberra :?

Not having the decency to speak to Stuart personally is pretty poor form too.

The kid is sharper than we think to use the Parramatta contract to skew the extra $$$ out of Canberra. I think he is more very weak in character in the way the backflips have occurred in the last couple of years and doesn't have the back bone to call people when he changes his mind.

I'd give credit to his manager for that, but I agree on the remainder.

Actually after watching a Gary Belcher piece on Papali, I'm really glad we didn't get him now.

Belcher pointed out that Papali always runs the same 'crash line' and never another line. Never ever changes it, always straight at the defence and needs to learn to change his angle.

It's possible that he can be coached to change his line, but if he doesn't have the instincts to do it, then we probably don't want $400k tied up in him.

Need to move forward and try and entice Matt Gillett. He is still available.

Highly doubt Gillett would move either considering a roosters scholarship/contract was torn up when he wouldn't leave Brisbanea few years ago. Now the bloke is married to a girl up here surely he would be less inclined.

A decent coach could train and teach him to change that.

Type Papalli into an Apple device and the suggested spell check is 'appalling', try it, rather appropriate.

No home game against the Raiders this year, would've been an interesting welcome for Papalli.

Canberra NRL forward Josh Papalii says he's been given more than he wanted in his recently signed Raiders contract after controversially backing out of a deal with Parramatta.
The 20-year-old enforcer found himself in a tug-of-war over his services after signing a three-year, $1 million deal with the Eels.
But the deal had some wiggle room and the Raiders had up until round 13 to make a counter offer.
Despite agreeing to the terms of his new Raiders contract before their round-one loss to Penrith, Papalii has only just put pen to paper on the deal in the past few days.

He said the process had taken a little longer than expected so that CEO Don Furner could make some final adjustments for both him and his family.
"I have actually got more than I wanted so I'm pretty happy," he said.
"I was in the media cloud for a moment there, but I was always focused on the Raiders and doing good for the Raiders."
He said he was happy to put the saga to bed so that he could concentrate on getting the Raiders back on track after a dismal start to the season, which has them on the bottom of the NRL ladder.
While Papalii admits the Raiders' situation after two heavy losses looks pretty dire, it isn't one the club hasn't been in before.
"The previous years, we haven't had a good start, but you know, we'll get out of it," he said.
The Raiders take on St George Illawarra - who are also winless - on Sunday afternoon in their first home game of the season.
"Everyone is saying it's a guaranteed win but the way that we've been going, it's not that way at the moment," Papalii said.
"It's a bit daunting at the moment but, if we just focus and train hard, we'll get the two points this weekend."

I wonder if every time he is interviewed or an article is about him he will be known as the player that controversially got out of a contract with parra

The last time this happened to us was in the late 80's when Nigel Tait a North Sydney centre agreed to join us and reneged at the last minute. His career went nowhere.
