Hahaha this just gets better and better! Good riddance punk.
Who misses the days of the likes of Mick Cronin not signing with Parra at first cause he gave his word to Peter Moore to go to Canterbury first , or Moore actually letting him out of that.
Or him signing a contract on the bonnet of his car at Auburn Hospital whilst getting treatment for an injury!
Ahh , those were the days........

Sydney, for the most part, is a shit hole with few redeeming features.. Melbourne shits all over Sydney in pretty much every way. Maybe he should've signed with the Storm.

Since I live on the Gold Coast I think I can provide an impartial judgement on that - Melbourne is a far bigger shithole than Sydney. Sydney has great beaches, the harbour and is surrounded by national parks. Looking at the Rip Curl Pro at Bells its only just the start of Autumn and everyone is dressed up as eskimos. I have surfed Bells in December and couldn't feel my feet after 10 minutes the water was so bloody cold. If hell ever did freeze over I am sure it would be called Melbourne.
Whenever I see those number plates up here with ' Victoria the place to be' on them I think what the f**k are they doing in OLD then.
The only good thing to come from Victoria ever is VB.

That last comment renders any opinions before it null and void.

Aesthetically, Sydney wins hands down. Everything else, Melbourne wins hands down.

However, Sydney is the birthplace of the great Stephen Rodger Waugh AO. Sydney is the modern Bethlehem.

So Dickhead please do not support our team at try to run down one of the worlds great cities. I know Melbourne very well and have a soft spot for it as that's were my Grand parents came from but it does not come close to our great city. I still have to visit it a number of times a year for work.
Both Melbourne and Brisbane suffer from the same inferiority complex needing to try and convince everyone of how good they are. The truth is Sydney people know we live in one of the best cities in the world and do not need to tell everyone to reassure our selves of it. They do not have to try and make out they are the food, fashion, sports, sun, beach or wine capital of Australia. We have it all here and the worlds greatest harbour.
Also do not let Mexicans and Banana benders try to say they do not have traffic problems like Sydney. They have all the same problems we do. Flew into Melbourne for work a couple of weeks ago and arrived at 7am. Got to the office in the CBD at 9:30am for a 9am meeting. So if you don't like our city go support the storm.

You're right John. It can take me anywhere up to an extra 5 minutes to get to Currumbin Alley for a surf around school time. Sometimes there can be as many as 15 cars lined up at the set of lights on the way there.

The road to Sydney is not bad either...

That money would be from this years cap?

It would definitely be.

You can give players a "signing bonus" (counted against current years cap) to entice them to sign the contract. I imagine we wouldn't have a leg to stand on in terms of getting that cash back from Papali - he did what he was paid to do, namely sign the contract.
The whole thing obviously feels wrong - but to get the cash back from him I imagine we'd have to prove that he never had any intention of coming here, and was only signing the contract in order to force Canberra to match the offer.
Can't see that being easy to prove...

Hopefully our good mate "the Schu" will assess that money against Canberra's current season cap (since he's not bound by court laws it appears). I can't see how that would affect them since they cut Dugan, but at least it would prevent them paying someone else a 'signing bonus' (although, if I recall correctly, you can't pay your own players a signing bonus anymore since the Bulldogs Andrew Ryan/ Luke Patten cheatery?)

Tony only takes me 5 Min's to go to Castle Hill. Brisbane to Gold Coast in peak hour is as bad as it gets. I have a boss who does the trip weekly after flying into Brisbane airport on a Monday to work for the week.
'But of course Sydney is the only place with peak hour traffic'.
Tony not everyone loves the beach. A hour a few times a year in enough for me and I grew up swimming 4 hours every day.

Mate Brisbane is a shithole as well and I'm glad I hardly ever to go there. Melbourne is worse IMO but the southern end of the Gold Coast is God's country.

maybe we could go the other way and sue canberra for the money because they enticed him to break his eels contract that might be easier to argue in court

Doesn't matter which way you chew it, it all seems loaded against clubs and in favour of players. More money spent sueing when it shouldn't be up for legals anyway. Canberra blows in more ways than one. Up there with Melbourne and Brisbane.

We should have only payed him the signing bonus if he agreed to remove the clause. Or put in a clause of our own stating if he reneged he'd have to return the money. Lesson learned for next time.

Thanks for the info. Glad you know exactly what was in the original contract.
