Don't they still serve on the PLC board?Well Sharp, Serraro and Issa are still eligible for PLC Board elections, just not eligible to serve on the PNRL Board.
That is, until OLGA has finished it's investigation regarding the PLC/PNRL Board's recent behaviours - which may end up in Sharp, Serraro and Issa being ineligible for PLC elections for a period of time?
Our PLC elections are not due until next year, and we still have 4 PLC Directors in place... unless OLGA appoints an adminsitrator for PLC, and gets rid of the whole PLC Board? If it does appoint an administrator for a period of time (e.g. until next year's elections) then the NRL would really come into play with their views of how our PNRL should be better governed/structured into the future...
To me, it seems to all come down to the timing of whether the OLGA investigation outocmes will interrupt processes already underway for the PLC Board/Management needing to deal with the various petitions for a PLC EGM, and interrupt whichever appointment/election options successfully emerges from that meeting? I'd reckon the NRL would rather deal with a single PLC administrator in sorting this out, to get to an eventual PNRL governance structure that is sustainable and stable - rather than having to negotiate governance changes with a new bunch of people around the table at the Club, however they come to be appointed....
I'm pretty sure they won't be surviving the EGM anyways, but If by some chance they do, I think the OLGA will punt them all pretty quick smart.Yep, I think my post indicated they are on teh PLC Board, but not on the PNRL Board?
OLGA is the only one that can make rulings regarding the suitability of our PLC Board Directors - and it's investigating!
Three submissions calling for an emergency general meeting in attempts to overthrow the current board have been deemed invalid due to flaws in the submissions.
they sent an email just now saying why
kinda
yes 3 yearsI am sure those that have submitted an EGM request will receive in writing a response as to why it was invalid.
Just to satisfy my mind, those signing had to be voting members right, so members for 3 years ?
you're f**king kidding?????????
watch for BA to walk...
hope the merkins that are there are satisfied.
PLC Letter from Bevan Paul said:Dear XXXXXX,
The Leagues Club has received from Members three requests to convene a General Meeting to remove directors of the Club, amongst other things. Upon receipt of these submissions, Leagues Club management had its auditors Price Waterhouse Coopers independently confirm that the Members signing petitions were entitled to vote at a General Meeting. The Leagues Club then sought legal advice from several sources regarding the validity of the motions contained in the petition.
The Board met on Wednesday the 13th of July (there was one apology due to unavailability) along with the Leagues Club General Counsel to consider the advice received.
One of the EGM requests had an insufficient number of signatories to qualify however all three contained legal problems and after careful consideration and extensive debate, the Board unanimously agreed that the flaws in the submissions invalidated them all and as a result none of the motions submitted would be put forward at an EGM.
In addition to the legal issues contained within the submissions, the Board has concerns that the entire voting Membership has not had a voice with respect to the candidates or processes proposed in the EGM submissions.
The Leagues Club Board however acknowledges that sufficient Members may wish to replace Directors or the Board entirely and the Board has therefore decided to call an EGM on the 22nd of August and ask the Members to approve that an early election is called no later than the 10th of October 2016 so the entire voting Membership can elect its governing body in an open democratic process.
Further notice and detail will be provided as per the Leagues Club Constitution.
