Parramatta Leagues Club board sacked, administrator appointed

Another year of Max, Yay!!!

The people who wanted him gone are the ones that voted against the proposals, lol dopey merkins.
I can't see Max staying another year as the pressure will only increase to get him out. There was no legitimate reason to be appointed in the first place. Other clubs surely have 'factions' but they just aren't as evenly divided as ours and don't attract the same attention. And they weren't dumb enough to record themselves cheating.

I noticed on the other site that Phil Sims had a sit down with Max and Max indicated that:
  • At this point, he does not see the possibility of legislative change forcing through a constitution. It would require legislative changes that would be opposed by ClubsNSW. The clear preference is for members to accept a constitution developed after a long period of member consultation but still modelled on boardroom best practices
Doesn't seem to bode well for making changes

So that means that the Minister does not have the executive power under the act to change a clubs constitution unfortunately. As explained ^^^, other clubs would lobby to avoid these legislative changes through fear of losing their autonomy.

I have no idea what the solution is TBH.

I do believe you just mentioned a good reason... Our management were so bad at their job that the government had to come in a remove them...

I think the only legitimate 'solution' at this point is to let our club run itself, like all the other clubs. If you start breaking the rules to get your changes through then you're as bad as the merkins you were supposed to be protecting us from. If the fans are dumb enough to turn us back into a shithole then so be it.
Walking away without achieving the NRL's desired aims though will mean a loss of face for Greenberg, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Those reasons were really just excuses because we were an embarrassment to the NRL and potentially to Greenberg personally. And we've been in limbo ever since.

The only sticking point was Max selecting the initial 7 board members. No other issues with the proposal were mentioned.
Surely there is another way the initial board could be selected that includes respected people the factions have no issue with. Same result. Maybe a panel of 3 or 4. People such as John Quale etc. The nuffys hate Max and thats whats allowing 50 odd idiots to hold the club to ransom.

Max will stay in until the changes go through. ILGA won't retire him from his position until they are happy with the board that is put into place.

It seems the no voters problem is that the first board won't be elected thus making it harder for a faction to be in power all at once.

But surely he can't stay in power forever, just proposing the same changes and having them voted down?

No I'm sure at some point Ferrier Hodgson would have to send a new administrator if Max were to retire/quit

On Edit: Max isn't running the club right now, the NSW govt is. Not in the literal sense (I could hear the keyboard click furiously), Max is running the club on behalf of the OLGA, but should Max wish to go, they would just appoint someone new and the wheel spins again, forever.

The government as an entity is forever, they will go around in circles for as long as it takes.

The political pressure to return the club to its rightful owners will become insurmountable at some point. It's already ramped up considerably. I expect a fresh round of media stories following this meeting.

The amount of people that want the club returned to member control pale in comparison the population of NSW, we are talking about 7.5 Million people. You really think a few hundred or hell even a few thousand people even register against 7,500,000?

Perhaps the answer lies with the NRL and the new franchise agreement.

When it comes a time to be renewed (is that soon ?) Perhaps Todd could make it a prerequisite that clubs structured like ours will only be offered a new franchise agreement if their constitution says xyz ?

Perhaps the haters will note yes if we stand to lose our team ?

If there's regular stories about it on the back page of NSW's most popular newspaper, then yes.

Why? People who aren't eels fans aren't going to give a shit who runs the leagues club. They might read the story, go "hmm" then dismiss it.

We couldn't even get 300 people to the meeting to decide the clubs future. I think you're over-estimating exactly how many people care about this issue..
