Nah name me a politician who has committed political suicide just so he can get a win. If you do come up with one, I bet that he/she is now viewed as a dumb f**k.

EDIT: Mike Beard in NSW. Took a strong stance with the greyhound industry. Was applauded for a gusty move. It all went pear shape and he ended up resigning "to spend more time with his family".

Turnbull Circa 2006 on an emissions trading scheme.

We need some juicy info. Got any new pics of the stadium site?

I will be in Sydney in late March and was thinking of getting out to take a look.
I'm going to buy one of those sweet drones n fly it from my house. Will save me $47 in tolls.

Take a look when you are in town. Grandstand is looking great. I believe top level is corporate seating.

Just to get this thread back on track (there is every other thread on this f**king forum that can be derailed guys).

A concrete pour was happening at the southern end of the western grandstand today, meaning pretty much that the aerial photo I posted above now has the western grandstand completed at ground level all the way to the south end. Much of it is already up to first floor level. Don't forget that the western grandstand is similar to a 5 story building. So, lot's to do there yet.
Stuart Ayres apparently also claimed today on the radio that the govt is hoping for a May 2019 completion.
From what I saw today, it will be an ask to complete the stadium in 16 months. They may very well be able to accomplish this but up till this stage, they've had a remarkable run of fine weather. History tells us that after a drought comes flooding rains. There will no doubt be weather delays during this period.
There just seems to be so much to do in 16 months.
In saying that, just 12 months ago, they were only just beginning to demolish the old shithole, so I suppose anything is possible.
Structural steel for the roof is onsite and the 400 tonne crane has been erected so I expect the roofing steel to be beginning to be installed soon.

Yeah I did too. As a GA Season ticket holder there will be allocated games that we’ll need to go to ticketek to “purchase” our tickets at no charge, but will have to pay a booking fee each time. I reckon that’s a bit shit.

Thanks for the great update Suit.

I am doubtful of the opening date too. It will not be ready for the start of the season for sure but I hope we at least get the chance to open the stadium with a blockbuster match but the draw is completed around November so not sure the opening date will be confirmed by then?

But having said - this project is absolutely steaming along !!
